This review is from: Digital Life High Performance Ethernet Cables - Advanced High Speed - 3 ft. Advanced High Speed Ethernet Cable (Personal Computers)
I bought this "3 ft. Advanced High Speed Ethernet Cable" to improve my internet connection. Before making this purchase, I researched the effectiveness of various Ethernet cables such as the CAT6. I'll summarize my findings here. My insight could help those who are tentative about this product. This Monster product is a CAT6 that has higher transmission rates than both a standard CAT5 (Cisco-Linksys UTP510 Network Cable, Cat 5, 10 Feet) and an enhanced CAT5e (RiteAV - Cat5e Network Ethernet Cable - Blue - 3 ft.). (Please note: The hyperlinks are references.) The CAT5 cables we use every day have transmission rates of 100 Mbps. I asked myself if I needed anything "better" than a CAT5, and the answer was no. Most households don't own a 100 Mbps connection. I have a 24 Mbps service (3,000 Kbps down), which pales in comparison to the speeds of a 100 Mbps plan (12,500 kbps down). But, even if I had a 100 Mbps plan, I would need only a CAT5. The CAT5e is an improved version with 3.5 times the speed of a CAT5 cable (350 Mbps). Bradley Mitchell's article differentiates between a CAT5 and CAT5e: "A newer specification for CAT5 cable - CAT5 enhanced ('CAT5e' or 'CAT 5e') - supports networking at Gigabit Ethernet speeds (1000 Mbps) over short distances by utilizing all four wire pairs, and it is backward-compatible with ordinary CAT5." Therefore, CAT5 cables suffice. Consumers--for now--will never reach or exceed the maximum transmission threshold of a standard CAT5. Case and point: What does this mean? Well, depending on a household's internet plan, a CAT5 cable is adequate; it does the job without any if's, and's, or but's. In addition, it's affordable. Cables such as the CAT5e and CAT6 are unnecessary because they exceed the CAT5's capabilities, especially for networks that operate at less than 100 Mbps. My previous CAT5 cable suits the "limitations" of my internet plan; however, I contradict myself by still using a Monster Cable. Conclusion: The cheaper, generic cables work. I didn't notice a dramatic improvement with my internet connection. It's a quality product, though. In the meantime, I'll continue to use it. I may also use it for computer-to-computer file transfers. That'd be one advantage. Sources: 1. "CAT5, CAT5e," Bradley Mitchell, accessed October 8, 2011.

I replaced all the cheap flimsy Chinese Ethernet cables that came free with my Dlink router and DIRECTV DVR boxes and the network connection reliability increased two-fold. The twisted pair construction and shielding greatly improves this cables network reliability. You get what you pay for. It definitely shows here. I used to watch DIRECTV shows from my DVR upstairs on my network and would lose access to the box occasionally. After the Ethernet cables were replaced with the Monster Digital Life ones, the problem has vanished. I am very happy with this purchase.

I'll admit I was a little skeptical before purchasing this cable since I've heard a lot of bad things about monster regarding price, but I honestly have no regrets! You probably can find a decent cable for a little cheaper, but what really sealed the deal for me when I received the cable was the build quality. This cable is really solid and also a stable performer. I haven't had any issues so far and would highly recommend this cable. Just be sure to measure the length of the cable that you're going to need! It was a tad shorter than I thought it'd be, so I had to rearrange my media center a little bit to make it work, but that was my fault.

I bought into the hype with this cable but when it arrived and I plugged it in and saw it bending my router connection down. One thing it does not fit snug when you connect it and second this cable is so stiff that it actually stresses the router where you plug it in because it is so stiff and takes forever to start to bend to go to the computer. I replaced it with a $3.00 Saba Cat6 which is more speed than I will ever need and fits tight and is very flexible. I am for sure sending this one back.

I ordered 4 sets of these cables to boost my connection speed. I checked my speed through Speedtest before and after. I gained 5 MBPS in speed. I replaced all my ethernet cables with these cables. Had to order one more because i needed a longer one. Price is kind of high for these cables but it is worth the money.

As Cat6 goes, this is a fairly flexible cable. It is slightly more rigid than at Cat5E cable. Don't be fooled by the attractive Monster boot wrapped around the ends of this cable...it is exactly that...just a boot. It can be slid down the wire just like any other boot.
I did not notice much difference in speeds on my PS3 using this cable, as both Cat6 and Cat5E are rated for Gig connectivity. I do, however, feel that with this cable, I have chosen the highest quality cable for my PS3 connection.

Another quality product! Very impressed with the workmanship of this cable. It did increase data transfer speed slightly over the Cat 5e cable I had been using, which is what I would expect. Quick shipping from Amazon as well!~

I thought this cable will help my pc with speed versus the old cable I were using. The speed is about the same.
