Product Description

If you love the comfortable, familiar feel of a console controller and are also unsatisfied with the short life of the Nintendo 3DS battery, then we've got just what you're looking for! CTA Digital introduces the sleek and luxurious Power Grip for Nintendo 3DS. With extended use handheld systems can tire and cramp your hands, shortening the gaming experience. With the Power Grip for 3DS this is not an issue, whether you're racing cars or playing your favorite platform game, the added comfort will help you maneuver your way through games with precision. Charge the grip with the included USB Cable or your original 3DS AC adapter and you've just doubled the battery life of your 3DS. The LED light on the power grip will turn from red to blue when the grip is fully charged. It will remain blue while switched ON and charging your 3DS. When you need to rest your hands from all the intense gaming, you can prop up the grip by using the integrated stand, which can also store an extra 3DS game. So with the Power Grip from CTA Digital you can enjoy all the freedom of a handheld console, the comfort of a controller, and double the battery life of your 3DS.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
There is A LOT of commentary in the reviews about wobbliness and imperfect connections between the grip and the 3DS so, having taken the plunge and gambled my money on one of these bad boys. I thought I would take the time to clarify a few things that managed to go unsaid so far or emphasize the quality of some of the products features.

1) This Product, 3ds securely plugged in, weighs slightly more than an Xbox 360 controller, and measures no more than half an in wider or taller than the standard 360 controller. So if that is the feel you are hoping to replicate, this is the best you will get in the weight and size departments and I have to say, it is pretty spot on.

2) If you have a functioning-as-intended unit, there is no detectable wobbliness between the 3DS and the grip. If your unit is not defective, your connection is secure and wobble-free, so to any reviews that discourage this because of their experience with a defective unit, remember that they were in fact, experiencing a defective unit. It was said that Amazon might have had a bogus supply of this product by one reviewer but I am here to tell you I bought mine from Amazon after that review was already up and mine works great so rest assured, whatever was going on appears to be under control in that regard.

3) Doubling battery life is an understatement. I will admit, I keep my 3DS and grip pretty well charged in general, but when it is off the cord and the 3DS starts blinking at me, I flick the grip's power switch on up on top of the unit and I just bought myself no less than double the play time I had without the additional battery.

4) There is one thing I will say in suggestion for the next model. This to me is the V2 model of the $9.

5.0 out of 5 stars A much needed improvement to the 3DS February 29, 2012

(**The rating of this product is based purely on the fully functional, without fault CTA Digital - Deluxe Power Grip for the Nintendo 3DS, and is unrelated to communications and/or "dealings" with the purveyor of this product through Amazon**)

Although I don't typically write reviews of any sort, I feel it necessary for this circumstance.

Now I don't know whether it's mostly people that have a negative experience with this product post on here, or whether a good majority of the Power Grips Amazon is shipping out are faulty. Regardless, I can affirm from my experience with this product how it is supposed to operate.

First, I must say that based on reading the other reviews, I was nervous about ordering one. I almost expected to receive a faulty Power Grip, therefore having to request a replacement. Fortunately, for me at least, this was not the case.

A topic I will immediately address is the common issues that other reviewers have mentioned. Before ordering this, based on other reviews, I believed both of these to be an overall design issue that would be present in any of these CTA Power Grips that are sent out. The first is the flashing of the 3DS' screen(s) during charging or any other time of use. After having used this grip for about a week, this issue as of yet has not occurred once for me under any circumstance. The second is the loose placement of the 3DS inside the grip. When placed into the grip, my 3DS fits snugly into the grip, with absolutely no room for shifting even the slightest amount of space. With this being said, I can confirm that neither of these issues should be present when one receives their grip, and one should request a replacement Power Grip should they occur.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than you think... December 6, 2011

So I feel compelled to write a review of this product so as to counter balance the 3-star review left by the other guy. If you look at the other CTA products you can see that the company cares about what they make otherwise they wouldn't have someone actually responding to other people's comments.

Anyways, I have to say that I have had the 3DS grip/charger for about a week now and I honestly believe it is an improvement over the 3DS alone.

The Grip: Molded in the likeness of an xbox 360 controller it is actually slightly wider, but in no way does it make the "grip" uncomfortable to hold with both hands and thumbs hovering the face buttons. Accessing the headphone port is easy and works for right-angled input jacks. Accessing the wifi and volume slider is ok too, though the thickness of the molding prevents you from using the side of your finger to "flick" it. Accessing the L, R shoulder buttons is the worst thing about the grip. You really need to get your fingers between the molding to reach them. My fingers are kinda skinny so it's passable, but thicker fingers or even gloved would be challenging.
The material is a very basic plastic and has very little weight. When I took it out of the packaging, I thought it felt "cheap". The grip itself has no "grip" like the xbox controller. There's no rubber and really no ridges for friction. The only weight really comes from the internal battery. The weight is not really an issue though because once you put the 3DS in it, the whole package feels fine, just don't hold the thing wearing knitted gloves or it might slip out of your grasp.

The Power: Just like the packaging and the reviewer said-- only comes with a USB charger.
