5.0 out of 5 stars Exelent book, updated information.
For non-linear editors & special FX artist - it's a "dream reading". All new hardware & software from 1998 (Avid, Adobe, Discreet Logic - now only Discreet) and all platforms covered (SGI, PC, MAC). All basic and advance principles of digital and analog video covered + extensive info about film (history, tech. spec. , edit etc)

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and Overpriced for the Content
The title of this book should be The Technology Components of Digital Nonlinear Editing. Definitely not worth 49.95. If you know computers, don't buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive NLE 101 Textbook, September 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Digital Nonlinear Editing, Second Edition: Editing Film and Video on the Desktop (Hardcover)
No one explains how NLE started and how the technology works better than Mr. Ohanian. It answers every question and answers questions you didn't even know you had to ask. Well written and well organized.
