I sometimes get a bit overwhelmed with Painter workbooks. This one is entertaining and easy-to follow. Highly recommended for the first-time user or those needed refreshers.

Knowing very little about the possibilities of Painter 11 (or any Painter version for that matter) this book has been a great companion. Very helpful, with the topics delivered in an easy-to-follow and lighthearted manner. Good advice without being overbearing. Well worth the money.

Refreshingly, this is not another agonizingly detailed trip through all the menus and buttons of the application. The book is focused on (gasp) actually making paintings. With the furnished data files and friendly writing, Rhoda Grossman walks you through the creation of several paintings, all the while nudging you to add your own personality to the work.

I've bought several Painter books over the years, and this is easily the best. You can learn the mechanics of the program from the help included with Painter. Grossman's book gets you going on the actual creative work--which is probably why you bought Painter to begin with.

Digital Painting Fundamentals with Corel Painter 11 is for any computer user interested in using Corel Painter 11, the industry standard for pixel-based drawing and painting. It provides step-by-step directions for using all the basic features of Painter 11, from the fundamentals of drawing and composition to images that illustrate all techniques. A CD-ROM with the book offers all the source images needed to complete the projects in the book, custom palettes and libraries, and more. A 'must' for any user of Corel Painter 11.

If you are new to Painter 11, (as I am), this is an excellent book to get you going. It's easy to follow, and provides software how too's as well. Can't go wrong with this intro book.

I had faith on this book, and I wasn't dissapointed. Unlike other books of its kind, it's focused towards you developing your skills, instead of showing off Painter's cappabilities (which are a lot). I totally recommend it if you're new to digital painting (has a really creative method for teaching yourself), or if you already had experience with previous versions of the software (discusses the new features along with the old ones, which you never seem to know completely). Why not five stars? I'd like better examples. They're really good, but (in my humble opinion) they could be better.

While I'm not quite an artist with the latest version of Corel Painter, this book has helped me get involved quickly and I would recommend it to any beginners. More advanced users will probably find this book beneath their skill levels, though.

A brief comment on Painter: it's a truly amazing program that confers the ability to do just about anything, huge number of brushes that you can vary or otherwise customize. If you can imagine it, you can paint it digitally in Painter.

As far as the 4-star rating goes, that's as high as I give unless there's something so wonderful that I think everybody has to have this item with no caveats.

I was really hoping that this was the book to help guide me thru painter11. Just a little more helpfull than the user booklet that comes with the painter program. The DVD that comes with it absolute 0. Digital Painting Fundamentals with Corel Painter 11 (First Edition)

I am working Corel Painter with the help of Jeremy's new "Painter 11 Creativity" book. The brushes that are included in the CD that come with the book are truly fabulous brushes. I love his style of painting as well as his style of teaching. He truly brings the creative side of painting out in you. I was particularly pleased that he included his post printing process in this book. I had a piece printed that I did in Painter. I then used Jeremy's instructions and painted over the print. I was so pleased with the process as well as the results of painting with Acrylics over the sealed print that I plan to do many more of them. I want to paint them using different types of real media paints. I rate this book as a five star.

To say I was disappointed with this book is an understatement. If you are looking for a book that has instructions on the basic elements of *drawing* then this book will be fine. However, I purchased this book to get instructions on how to use the tools in the program. That is not what I got. Yes, there are some basic tool explanations but there is nothing that covers the important special features in this program. The majority of this book is an art lesson, not a program guide. There isn't even an explanation of the types of tools/effects (i.e. fundamentals) that this program can do. Honestly, they should change the title of this book to, Corel 11 for people who have never drawn a picture.
