I, too, thought the photos and music would play at the same time.There was no indication on the box that said you could do one or the other but not both. I'm returning mine!

No simultaneous audio and images,
I purchased the product and when I went to play MP3 and JPEG files on it , could only get it to do one or the other, but not both. When I called Coby customer service, I was told that this model will not play them simultaneously, as most other digital picture frames do. So, unless you want a silent digital picture frame and a tinny sounding MP3 player, I would not recommend purchasing it!
