I needed a tach to verify the RPM on a chipper engine that I had recently made some governor repairs on. This little inexpensive jewel did the trick and has since been used to register all the speeds of my vintage wood lathe. Professional photo tachometers can cost hundreds of dollars and really can't do a better job. The product is simple to use and well made, so if you have some RPM's to check, then go for this unit. It comes with reflective tape that you apply a small piece of to the shaft/hub or pulley of the device being checked, start the device, point the laser at the reflective tape while holding the test button down and the RPM reads direct. The seller of this unit at storefront was also prompt with the order and it actually arrived ahead of schedule, so for twenty one dollars and change, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal!

This handheld laser tach works great. I used it on an outboard motor that could not support a standard tach. The only issue I had was that it did not work outdoors in direct sunlight. As the sun dropped down, then it was able to "see" the reflector and read the rpm's. Indoors it works perfectly. Aside from the sunlight issue this is a neat little tool.

I installed a new blower motor in my furnace. It blew too much air, and I couldn't tell any difference between the LOW and MED settings. I wanted to be sure I wired it for the right speed. This laser tachometer let me know for sure. It was very easy to use, and gave consistent readings.
As far as the furnace, I ended up installing an improvised restrictor plate over the blower inlet. Now it works acceptably.

I purchased this optical unit in order to verify my pulse tach readings on my boat motor. It did what it was supposed to, and verified that I was receiving accurate readings on my pulse tach. The unit is simple to use; point and press the button. I've not had the need to use it for anything else, but it has become part of my motor troubleshooting kit. an excellent product for the price.

This tachometer comes with enough reflective tape for 20 or more applications. It also works with other reflective surfaces. It is sensitive enough to pick up other things such as white tape, wood propeller blades, or shinny aluminum. I got this when it was on sale for less than $8 and didn't know what to expect. I am very pleased with it. I use it to measure the speed of my Stirling Engines.

This device does exactly what I needed it to do- calibrate alternator-driven diesel tachometers. For the price, I have zero complaints. It also has some handy features like saving the highest rpm and last rpm.

Works perfectly as advertised. Of course I don't have a comparison of how accurate the displayed speed is. But I use it to adjust the speed of my router to be able to run larger bits. To do that it doesn't matter if I am off a few RPMs. Important is to not run a large bit with 27000 rpm when it is only built for 18000. So I like it and it works. Very good price and it comes in this little blue pouch, just as the picture shows, so the device is a bit protected. I gave it 4 stars as I couldn't verify the accuracy of the device given by the manufacturer.

I bought this with the intention of using for setting the engine speed on a lawn tractor. The first one arrived and I couldn't make sense of the display...turns out that the display was broken. The seller immediately sent me another one. The second one arrived and the display worked great...the buttons didn't. To make a long story short...I took parts from each to make one that works. I felt bad that the seller spent more in shipping than they got from me...quality of the product leaves much to be desired. The one I finally have works well...In the end I got what I needed.

I can't believe I got this for $15 with free shipping. It took a while to arrive but it came all the way from China. I had been wanting a tachometer to properly set the idle speed on several small engines but an accurate tach is very expensive. This little gem is easy to use and works perfectly. I won't even question its accuracy because electronic counting of pulses is simple and perfectly accurate. The laser beam is bright so I had no trouble using it even in direct sunlight. The translated instructions leave a bit to be desired but it is so easy to use that's not a problem. Anyone who would be using this tach frequently might want to look around for a source of reflective tape but there was enough tape with it to last me a lifetime.

This is one of those "I always wanted one of those" - type of tool that I thought could be quite useful in my shop. When I saw it for this price and with all the favorable reviews it was an easy choice over similar products for over twice the price. This unit is an easy point and click for instant RPM readings and will make calibrating pulley and motor changes on various projects more accurate (with less math) !

The tach arrived early and in great condition , I would not hesitate to do business with this vender again.

Buy one , you will like it. Also comes with lots of reflective material and it's own case.
