This book has plenty of helpful tips. However, much of the content here is a rehashing of the content from the first book. There was a bit more detail but not as much as I was expecting. Still a helpful book though.

Great book! This was one of the first Scott Kelby books that I've purchased. I stumbled upon it while browsing the bookstore one day. At first, I thought "This book is awfully thin for a photography book. How much can he really cover?" But because it was a short book, it did grab my attention and I quickly flipped through the pages out of curiosity. Well... that's all it took. I ended up purchasing the book that day because his explanations were very clear and also seemed too good to be true. I had to try his techniques out myself. And you know what? THEY WORK! All of the instructions are very straight forward. There's no confusion at all. And trust me, I am one of those people who are easily confused by technical stuff. My brain just shuts down on that stuff. Haha! Oh, I love that Scott Kelby wrote this book with a little bit of silly added. It makes the reading even more enjoyable. If you are even a little bit interested in this book, here are some things you can expect: 1. Very clear instructions on what he's talking about. 2. A hint of silly. 3. An improvement in your own photography. Truly. He helped me fully understand what my photo teachers had been trying to explain in those classes in just one short book. No, it will not explain all of photography to you. But it will allow you to enjoy it more as you continue learning the different techniques for your camera. I know that some people say it's a little biased towards Nikon stuff, but I have both a Nikon and a Canon, and I don't find that following his instructions on my Canon are any different than on my Nikon. Another great thing about this book is that because it's thin and lightweight, you can carry it out to the field with you as a reference guide. It's a good buy. I've already purchased the rest of the series.

In the same style as Part 1, excellent practical instruction and advice. Anyone who's willing to move the dial off the green "Auto" setting will get something (a lotta things) from this book. And if you're willing to buy a good tripod and an off-camera flash, these instructions will put those tools to good use.

I have Part 1 and Part 2, definitely getting 3, 4 and 5 for upcoming vacation study and experimentation.

I have bought and read the first four of Kelby's Digital Photogrpahy books and like many, many people, have enjoyed the way he uses humour and writes his explanations as if he's just having a casual conversation with you, as if you bumped into each other at a barbeque, you discovered he's a photography pro, and you picked his brains for a few tips, and struck gold because this photographer knows how to put things in normal language, refraining from using technical jargon and making you feel illiterate, dumb and a fool.

To be honest though, I've found that he is stringing out his books. I found that as you progress from Book to, to 2, then 3, then 4, the things you learn decreases, at least for me. Don't get me wrong, I am hardly a pro. And Kelby covers many situations that I'm sure I'll very rarely be involved in, like waking at 5am to take one of those beautiful landscapes with the still waters of the lake, over which a long shadow of the nearby mountain is casting.

Overall, should you buy this series of books? If you even a passing interest in photography, then yes, at the very least buy the first book. As the the next 4, it depends on your interest and knowledge levels.

Love the books
Took the plunge and bought a new full-frame Nikon camera along with lenses and other assorted peripherals.
Along with some other assorted books I bought both part 1 and part 2 of this books and I have to say this one seems to work the best for me with ideas for taking great photos.
I recently shot three nights worth of photos for a friend of mine at work putting on a student play presentation and they were absolutely fantastic. These books helped me immensely in taking those photos.
Thanks

This book is super! A continuation of Part 1, it goes into more specific things, and I love Kelby's style of writing. Not too Techie or intimidating with a sense of humor. I consider myself a newbie, but I would think this would be a great resource for any avid photographer hobbyist as well. This 2nd edition has up to date information, and I use it as a reminder on what to do for sunsets, sunrises, etc, whenever possible. Couldn't get along without it!!

I have all of the original editions of these books by Scott Kelby. I liked the first 3 editions so much I purchased a 2nd set and donated them to our local library about 4 ears ago. Since then, there is a waiting list to get them. I bought this new 2nd edition to see what Scott recommends now that he has had time to get feedback from the 1st editions. Whenever I meet someone new to photography these are the books I say all photographers should own.

Scott Kelby strikes again with an excellent step by step tutorial manual for creating beautiful photographic images. Atta Boy Scott. What I especially like is Kelby's simple, straight forward, not overly technical language that facilitates the translation from book knowledge to practice in the field. It's a gift that has contributed to Kelby's popularity as a photography instructor.

Kelby's passion for high quality imagery is reflected in his work and that presence is infectious. I have found reading Kelby's book yields a feeling of excitement and anticipation to get camera in hand to start shooting as soon as possible. What I also appreciate is knowing that if my first attempt to replicate Kelby's outline for good photography does not work; I can go back to the book (drawing board) for a quick reference review and try again usually with good results.

Thank you Mr.Kelby.
