I purchased the original DP Guide a year or two before this edition was released, and actually got it as part of a promotion (one of my stories of gamer tales made it into the book, so I earned a free copy), and since I've loved it by my side. The pages are put together very nicely, there is TONS of information on every page (ranging from cartridge numbers, to reviews, to backgrounds on games, and THEN come the collectors' values and rarity). Combine that with the sheer amount of games piled into this book and one is bound to remember a game or two that they'd feel would NEVER be heard from again.

So many systems are covered in this book that it could also be looked to as simply a reference guide for systems past, helping inform people of systems released right under their noses. If you consider yourself a gamer, or want to see how much your games could very well be worth today, this is a book to pick up and thumb through. Even though my copy was free, I admit: I've yet to be disappointed as I file through each page and, indeed, mark off all of the games I've bought that are included in this edition.

I bought this along with the other collectors guide they released. Theyre both equally usefull & informative. I have two copies of this book, one to keep in my car for when I'm hunting for games at garage sales and the other copy waits for me in my bathroom. XD
Its VERY usefull for when you're wondering how rare or valuable a game is. It's like having an internet database in my hand at all times.

Great reference manual. So in depth with game info, hints and info...Covers all the great games from the later era...I use this book every time I decide to look for retro games...It is a little outdated but it is the best on the market for its time period.
If you are collector for good info and rough prices...this book would help out a lot...just double check what system you are looking for...there are 2 different versions, a older and a newer...both are great...

Got a machine post 85? As a companion to the Classic Guide, this should just about fit every other piece available. Although it mainly covers US releases, there is plenty of European and Japanese listings available in the book and on their website. As always, as a first edition, it isn't perfect but it's the best there is currently and can only get better.
