5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a masterpiece.
It was this book that launched my career into Digital Electronics as an Electronics Techinian. I purchased this book in its first edition back in 1969 and used it as a self study for "on the job training." The company I worked for at that time was making a transition from analog to digital.
This book has been an invaluable tool down thru the years. Yes, I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Too basic
This book is ok. Its very basic and not up to the mark as far as digital design courses go in undergrad. Writing style is good, but once again, as far as content goes, not upto the mark. It's good for some lay person. But for someone who's intersted in doing this subject well, I'd recommend Digital Design by John F. Wakerly. I used Malvino before I saw the later book,...

This book has been an invaluable tool down thru the years. Yes, I still have the first edition (as a keep sake) and the third edition as an update. While I have not personally evaluated the latist edition I think I can safely say that Dr. Malvino's latest edition is still a masterpiece for those who are new to the field.

This review is from: Digital Principles and Applications (Hardcover)
I am a student of electronics engineering and am using this book as one of my text books in digital electronics. This is a great book for the beginers and clears the fundamentals such as - logic circuits and gates, various number systems, memory, counters, etc. I congratulate the author for producing such a helpful and educative edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellant book for hardware as well as software engineers., April 8, 1999

This review is from: Digital Principles and Applications (Hardcover)
Being a professor of computer sciences, I have read and taught this book for students of Master in computer science. The book has been designed such that students having no background of electronics can benefit equally. Using modular approach various courses can be designed for digital logic designers, computer scientists and hardware engineers. I have found this book very useful and I have recommended this book in Bachelors as well as Master's level program. The only problem I have been facing is that being a tutor I have not been able to find the tutor's manual. I will appreciate if someone can guide me how to get the teaching material of this book
