Book Description

August 28, 2005
It's the digital age for cameras, as successful pros and beginners alike realize they'll never run out of film, face the wrong weather, ruin a sequence, or lose a treasured album. An award-winning TV director shows how easy it is to enjoy a Digital SLR camera for capturing a baby's first step, the winning basket, or the peak of a sunrise. The explanations come without the usual jargon, but with the author's own photos to illustrate each technique: choosing the right camera for you, the whats and whens of choosing JPEGs or RAWs, startups and setups, darkroom creativity, storage and cataloging for a lifetime, and distribution as greeting cards, gifts, and wild new acts of your own imagination.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok, but not for people who wants to learn how to use SLR, September 11, 2005

This review is from: Digital SLR Handbook (Paperback)
this book is spending time trying to convince people the advantages of digital SLR over traditional film SLR. It talks about some basic details. If you're new to SLR world, you need something else besides this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want to learn about how to photograph using a DSLR - This is it!!!, May 24, 2009
By
This review is from: Digital SLR Handbook (Paperback)
I read this book from cover to cover and was very impressed with it! I learned so much about how to properly take photographs and how DSLRs are similar and yet different from old film cameras. It takes you step by step with what you need to know as a photographer.

Example, It will show you the difference between RAW and JPEG and will help you understand what each setting does, doesn't do and why its important to decide on which format for what your shooting. Once you understand, it goes on to how to use the White balance on your camera to balance out the light in the picture to be as natural as you want it. It then goes on to teach you about ISO, noise, etc, using the f-stops, dial in the settings, how to use the histogram... and basically is like having a master photographer take you from beginner to pro!

Even more impressive, it's written by a gentleman who's from London and does his work overseas. While the book is published in 2005, I found it very helpful and useful for even my brand new 2009 camera Canon EOS 500.

I got this book at my local library but now I'm buying one because its cramed with useful information! :-)
