this book is spending time trying to convince people the advantages of digital SLR over traditional film SLR. It talks about some basic details. If you're new to SLR world, you need something else besides this book.

I read this book from cover to cover and was very impressed with it! I learned so much about how to properly take photographs and how DSLRs are similar and yet different from old film cameras. It takes you step by step with what you need to know as a photographer.
Example, It will show you the difference between RAW and JPEG and will help you understand what each setting does, doesn't do and why its important to decide on which format for what your shooting. Once you understand, it goes on to how to use the White balance on your camera to balance out the light in the picture to be as natural as you want it. It then goes on to teach you about ISO, noise, etc, using the f-stops, dial in the settings, how to use the histogram... and basically is like having a master photographer take you from beginner to pro! Even more impressive, it's written by a gentleman who's from London and does his work overseas. While the book is published in 2005, I found it very helpful and useful for even my brand new 2009 camera Canon EOS 500. I got this book at my local library but now I'm buying one because its cramed with useful information! :-) |
