Book Description

0521025133 978-0521025133 March 20, 2006 1
Digital signal processing is an essential element of key communications technologies such as mobile phones and the Internet. This text covers all the major topics in digital signal processing (DSP) design and analysis, supported by MatLab examples and other modelling techniques. The authors explain clearly and concisely why and how to use digital signal processing systems; how to approximate a desired transfer function characteristic using polynomials and ratio of polynomials; why an appropriate mapping of a transfer function onto a suitable structure is important for practical applications; and how to analyze, represent, and explore the tradeoff between time and frequency representation of signals.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"An ideal textbook for students, it will also be a useful reference for engineers working on the development of signal processing systems...An excellent authorship and an equally excellent editorial content and planning of the subject matter have helped to make the book an ideal acquisition for readers passionately devoted to the task of equipping themselves with tools that will enable them to design and analyze most digital signal processing systems." Current Engineering Practice

"This textbook covers, clearly and concisely, the core material of a DSP course..." Times Higher Education Supplement

"This single, comprehensive volume covers all the major topics..." Poptronics

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference for students, researchers, and practitioner engineers, January 27, 2012
This is an excellent reference for those looking for a solid engineering-based approach to DSP theory and practice. The learners will benefit from many aspects of this book, such as the "Do-it-yourself" sections at the end of each chapter explaining how to put into practice some of the most important DSP concepts.
