4.0 out of 5 stars Good Viewer with menu quirk, August 9, 2010

This review is from: Digital Spectrum MemoryFRAME ULTRA MF1202X2 12.1-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
We chose this 12 inch frame for its photo friendly 4:3 aspect ratio and full lens front. This frame is one of the very few in this category. Plenty good picture at 800 x 600. As the other reviewer pointed out the menus are clunky but learn-able. The one issue that looks like a plain old software BUG is that when you navigate in memory to a folder that contains images the frame starts a little 'filmstrip' slide show. Problem is that the filmstrip function eats up so much processor time that the system can no longer respond to the remote control. Luckily the joystick on the back of the frame has higher priority or is buffered so you can still use the thing. A bit on the fence right now about keeping it. Since there are so few alternatives and we do have a workaround for the remote issue we will probably end up keeping it.

This is our third purchase of this specific frame. It has a nice display and is compact compared to a prior 12 inch that had a lot of frame around the actual display portion. The quality is good and it works well for picture files. The menu system is a little clunky and difficult to use. I almost called the help desk but discovered the "Back" key lets you access the other set of menus. There is a "Menu" button on the remote but it only accesses part of the settings. That said, once configured it works well and does the job.
