As somebody who is hungry to learn more about digital storytelling -- from how it began to how to do it -- I found this book incredibly informative and inspiring. It is written in a readable and friendly tone with beautiful scripts from stories included as "interludes" within the text. The author shares his inside experience of how the art of digital storytelling began, insight on scripting stories and holding space for the telling of those stories, and examples of how digital stories interact with the world on both the personal and community levels. I highly recommend this book to anybody interested in personal storytelling.

Joe Lambert's new edition of this book had been very useful to me on a subject (digital storytelling) where not much is available. Creating personal stories has been a very moving experience for me, and this book has helped clarify how to go about it. The stories included in the beginnings of the chapters ended up inspiring me to FLY through the book, so that i could get started already ! The format was clean and clear, with interviews, stories, quotes, photos and boxed sections. I recommend this book if you are interested in getting your story out into the world.

This book is a must-have for anyone interested in the roots and applications of digital storytelling. Chock full of the social justice history of the movement and how it integrates with other community-based participatory arts projects/processes as well as interviews with some of the leading digital storytelling practitioners worldwide, this text is a fantastic resource for folks steeped in digital storytelling who want justification for their practice or newbies to digital storytelling who want to understand how it's much, much more than just multimedia composition.
