Editorial Reviews

Review

Johnson has created an organized and detailed guide that provides a sound jumping-off point for tech newbies as well as a wonderful resource for veteran ech integrators. Before delving into the tools themselves, Johnson takes the time to describe the difficult role shift that a teacher must overcome when bringing e-tools into the classroom, along with an accurate and insightful look at today's learner. --Mary Beth Hertz, Edutopia

What Steve has here is brilliant! The 30 tools he has provided are a great starting point for novices and experts, and the tips and tricks he provides are incredible... I like how at the top of each tool there is a goal. That is important for readers; to understand why this tool was picked, and why they should be using the tool. The curriculum tie-ins are important as well, because teachers will often buy books similar to this and find an explanation of how to use the tool, but not ways to integrate it into specific areas... Overall, I would recommend this book to all of my teachers as a valuable, not-to-miss resource. --Steven W. Anderson, District Instructional Technologist for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools

Steve currently resides in Concord, North Carolina, with his wife, Bridget, and two little girls, Emily and Kenna.

I judged this book by its cover and got burned. Teachers: please - you work too hard for your money to waste it on this outdated collection of basic information. You can get better information about digital tools for teaching by searching the internet for ideas.

More than every, technological literacy is very important. "Digital Tools for Teaching: 30 E-Tools for Collaborating, Creating, and Publishing Across the Curriculum" is a guide fo using Web 2.0 as a powerful tool for education and how to use it to its fullest. Describing the educational potential from the obvious like Google Earth to the not so obvious like Twitter, Steve Johnson gives a strong and very useful resource that shouldn't be overlooked. "Digital Tools for Teaching" is a must for any technology-minded educator.
