Huge fan of this series - yes even Legends I could tolerate. Regardless, Firefly has forced me to actually get a pen name and create a review for the first time. I have bought many items from Amazon, and always thought that writing a review (which I usually listen to - or at least use to make a basic opinion) was a good way to pass along information about good products when shopping around. Having said that 99.9% of all products I have bought have been good or exceptional. This game sucks badly - in every imaginable way. The bugs make it unplayable, crashes when you get close to finishing the scenario, units will not respond immediately and food and people production is very frustrating. I really can't believe they released this as it is. Yes, they will sell some games and cover their costs - but trust me when I say they have hurt their fan base badly. I pre-ordered this game. Never again Firefly - you have proven that customer satisfaction is not a concern with your company. I imagine others will remember as well.

I've played the Stronghold series for a long time, and spent hundreds of hours crafting and crushing castles and villages. Sadly the only thing getting crushed here was my love for the franchise. The game installed and ran without issue, which, after checking the forums was apparently not something I should've expected. Once in game the bugs start pouring in. When you click on a unit, you would expect to select, and hey, sometimes it does, but most of the time it selects a whole lot of nothing, even dragging an enormous box around units doesn't always result in selection. Attacking an enemy "works" about the same, I can't count the number of times I grew frustrated with my own units because they would either go wandering past the enemy or stand there and let themselves be chopped to pieces as I try time and again to order them to do something about it. How about the animals that can climb walls, or just hurt your guys from a distance, not to mention all the glitches that come with wall construction. They have already released a patch to address some of the issues, i.e. the game not launching for a lot of folks, the multiplayer crashing at launch or at some point during the match, etc., but goodness there are a lot of bugs, to many for me to want to type them all out.

As for the things that are present in the game, the military and economic campaigns, don't expect a pre-rendered cinematic to kick off the story as seen in SH2, all you get are some pencil drawn storyboards, the sort of thing that had to be on display when they were selling the idea originally, or talking about as they created the game, some games pull it off, this one doesn't in my opinion.

I must start out by saying I love Stronghold Crusader... They messed up Stronghold 2, but with some fixes they resolved it somewhat. Stronghold 3 is a complete waste of money. You can only play military or economic campaigns. Free build is limited to two maps. There is no skirmish mode....

The economics are completely out of whack. In the first economic campaign I had to have 8 apple farms running to feed 16 people.. They produce too slowly. How can wolves attack archers who are standing behind a wall on a platform.

It makes no sense. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS RUBBISH....

I downloaded it last night and have played a few hours. The aggressive mode doesn't always work well. Finding the sweet spot, to get the sword icon to appear on hostiles to attack them is extremely difficult sometimes. The same goes with trying to click on specific buildings that are built close to one another - very clunky and inaccurate interface mechanics.

The wild animals (especially the bears in mission 5) are very hard to see in your town and they can easily outrun your melee guys. So they often go around randomly killing your villagers while you try to catch them, once you actually see them. The AI on a couple of missions (I am on 7 so far) seems to be stuck on ass-kicking mode. The waves just keep coming regardless of how quickly you try to build units. However, this would be fine except for the fact that peasant spawns are much slower now, due to the new way that they calculate popularity rating. Even when you jack up popularity with a church using candles (yea that's right candles), and money bribes, sometimes you just can't keep up very well. The propensity of your popularity to go into the crapper during any given mission is very high due to random fires, multiple wild animal attacks and what seems like a much too high usage of food given the amount of farm resources you build.

I have seen my friendly units get stuck in place many times so far. They cannot be disbanded or moved, which is a serious bug. The way walls are built is a bit non-intuitive. The units are also a total pain in the ass to get up on the gate houses, walls and towers. Instead of just clicking on the top of a tower or gatehouse, you mouse over the object you want to enter until you get a "stairs" icon.
