Product Description

This is a brand new, high quality k-type thermometer for contact temperature measurements. It has two inputs for K-type thermocouples and can display T1 or T2. It also allows to display the differential temperature T1-T2 . It can be used in HVAC trade to check air conditioners, heaters or furnaces. It conveniently allows to measure an inlet and an outlet temperature. It is also great for science fair projects and whenever you need a precise measurement of two temperatures. Also used in re-flowing and to measure the temperature on computer chips. It comes with two 3 ft (1 m) temperature probes, they have a glass fiber insulation and work up to about 500F (260C) , but any other K-type probe with miniature thermocouple connector can be used. To use the thermometer for temperatures above 500 degree you would need a special thermocouple with a ceramic insulation (not included) or one of the stainless steel k-type thermocouple probes. NEW: two additional thermocouples with green Teflon insulation will be included.

I purchased this meter for superheat and sub oolong as well as temperature differential in the heating and cooling business. So far so good, only thing is. I wish the temperature cords were longer, other than that, don't be afraid to purchase this for hvac work, it's how I make my living and this little meter is doing it's job, shipping from meter depot is always fast and accurate which is a plus!

2.0 out of 5 stars Battery hog May 2, 2013
On third battery in as many weeks; specs say 3 mA - measured 20 mA. Barely intelligible calibration instruction, but otherwise fine. For occasional use, a good value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Potters: December 29, 2012

I fire pottery in a wood firing kiln. My old pyrometer died and I bought this one because it was so inexpensive compared to other pyrometers that I decided to take a gamble. The "thermocouple" that comes with this product seems to be just the two thermocouple wires fastened together at the end. I cut the ends of the wires off and fastened the wires to a thermocouple which I had bought from a ceramics supplier. I have used it twice, firing my wood kiln to cone ten and it has worked nicely. I hasten to add that I fire with cones and use the pyrometer only to judge if i am gaining or losing heat. I have no idea how accurate it is, but it shows heat gain or loss by tenths of a degree. It has worked very well for me, but since I have used it for such a short time I only gave it four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive but does the job March 26, 2013

This meter was purchased for high school science projects that needed temps measured. With two thermocouples, it was easy to record delta-t for the projects.

The display is bright and controls are easy to use.

One 9 volt battery powers the unit and has only needed to be replaced once. There is an auto-off feature that does save the battery.

For the price, this unit fit the bill for home use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for the money December 7, 2012

I usually use Fluke products, but needed temperature. Upgrading my existing Fluke stuff to include temperature just wasn't cost effective since both of my 15 year old meters still work just fine. This temperature meter is accurate as compared to Fluke equipment of friends. It has good precision and accuracy (at least near room temperature to 100 C). This comes with everything you need to do regular thermocouple measurements including differential measurements with the two supplied thermocouples. I am not sure if it is capable enough if you need traceable results, but for everyday work, you can't beat the price.

Unit comes with two type K thermocouples so you can read & compare two channels. I could never get the two channels even close in reading.

I purchased two of these and they also were 4 deg. F off from each other. Maybe it's the type K thermocouple issue. The manual shows a way to calibrate which I haven't tried. I like the peak reading but the problem is that you can't leave the unit on for lengthy times (hours), because it has a built-in auto-shutoff after 30 minutes? or so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Digital thermometer March 3, 2014

I was pleasantly surprised at how solid and weighty this was. I was confused at how to put the battery in until I figured out the yellow outside protective casing comes off first. So far so good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thermocouple Dual Temperature Readouts February 8, 2014
Verified Purchase
Christmas gift item for a relative. The 2 temperature readouts are useful in HVAC applications to determine how well equipment is functioning and to determine what potential adjustments for the operating system are needed. It uses 2 K type remote temperature sensing thermocouples and has internal readout adjustments to adjust the thermocouples for matching the 2 readouts. ( the differential temperature data is what is needed for analysis, not exact temperature). Nice product for HVAC service techs.
Product has a long ship time from source. (month or so). Have not received any functional information from relative as to function.
