Chris Montez At His Best,
By Robert Iocca (Wimauma, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Digitally Remastered Best (Audio CD)
My wife and I were instantly carried back through time to the years we were dating to the music of Chris Montez. Because Of You, The More I See You, There Will Never Be Another You, Day By Day, Time After Time, we were amazed at how many of the lyrics we remembered. If you are a Chris Montez fan, look no further! This is the CD to purchase! Dave Collins and Andrew Garver of A&M did an outstanding job of remastering these cuts from five of Chris Montez' best albums. Thank you Yoshi Nagato and Shun Okamo for bringing these tunes back to my wife and I, and for making them available to Chris Montez fans in America and around the World and thanks to A&M records for pointing Chris toward cutting these timeless tunes. Chris, "There Will Never Be Another You".

Ulra-Loungey- and that's a good thing,
This review is from: Digitally Remastered Best (Audio CD)
Chris Montez personifies lounge music in a real "shagadelic"-type of way."The More I See You" is hands down the best track in this collection. This is the type of song that once you hear it, it just stays in your head all day and dances around until ya gotta listen to it again. It's infectious! Chris has got a cool delivery in a very different way the a Tom Jones or Engelbert Humperdink. His voice is perfectly suited for this very loung-ey type of music. Where most crooners belt them out, Mr. Montez oozes them out in a very cool, unique, sexy but unthreatening way. This guy stands alone. Can't compare him to anybody. But I'm a huge fan. These tracks are hard to find. If you stumbled onto this set by simply browsing around, consider yourself lucky. This set is a solid winner. And if you are Mr. Montez fan frustrated by lack of product- this collection is definative. It's a smart choice. The track selection is superlative and the sound is great. Whatta collection!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best of Montez,
By P eter Ryan (Manchester United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

This is a must for Chris Montez fans and, indeed, anyone prepared to be bewitched by a legendary example of the sounds of the Swinging Sixties. The technical standard is brilliant, with a rare crispness which brings out every detail both of the voice and of those deceptively simple but mindblowing instrumental and backing arrangements. The CD is pricey but it has 25 tracks, including at least seven of Chris's monster hits, and is musically worth every cent. The only weak track is, of all positions, the first - a live performance of "Because of You", so ineptly recorded as to beggar belief.

Montez's Finest!,
This review is from: Digitally Remastered Best (Audio CD)
Normally when I mention Chris Montez the response I get is "Who??". Chris got the chance to record some wonderful songs on Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss' A&M Records. Even though "Let's Dance" was his biggest hit and on the Monogram label I have to say the A&M recordings are better. "The More I See You (#16 '66) is a fine easy listening classic! The rest are good too, don't miss it. Even if it is said he can't hold key well the songs are great.
