About the Author

After a health crisis, Eva Caye morphed from dilettante writer into obsessive author, publishing DIGNITY, the first of seven books in the To Be Sinclair series, as an e-book in August 2012, with MAJESTY following in October, FEALTY in December, ROYALTY in January, and a new book, EASTER EGGS, an anthology of the four free short stories added to her first three books. The author's goal is to have the series (plus one add-on book) all published within one year. Eva lives with her magnificent husband and two lovely mutts in a tiny farmhouse in Louisville, Kentucky.

More About the Author

After a health crisis forced Eva Caye to re-evaluate her life, she took up her favorite hobby, writing, to find meaning and inspiration once more. Eva achieved her goal to get the nine completed novels in her To Be Sinclair series edited and published within two years. Her current works-in-progress are two prequels to the series, set about 100 years in the future.

Enter the Goddess features Leah Marie Fischer, an average 17-year-old girl desperate for a new life, as she travels to Corona Segundus, the fourth colony world, founded by the great scientist and creator of jump ships, Pete Moehrke. In order to get ahead in the colony, she decides to become a 'high dancer', and she and two friends ask the retired Catrina Marese, a courtesan who immigrated when young, to teach them the artisanship of attracting men. When a scientist dear to her heart bequeaths two billion dollars to her, she has to decide which are the most important endeavors she can invest in to make life worth living on the colony.

Undying Dawn features Kyan Sinclair, a 30-year-old scientific genius and billionaire who developed the PsyActive Link, who with his partner Joshua Edwards owns the closest to Earthlike planet discovered thus far. Their unusual personal travails are minimal compared to how to select colonists they want as leaders in their colony, especially when it comes to comparing money versus talent versus experience! Kyan arrives on his planet with his first Blitz team, planning to never leave again, when circumstances force him to return to Earth or lose his fortune....

Eva has studied some unusual topics to support her literary efforts, such as building solar ovens and rocket stoves to get a feel of what colonizing a planet from scratch would be like. She lives with her magnificent husband and two beautiful mutts in a tiny, century-old farmhouse in Louisville, Kentucky.

I'm not sure at what point I simply hunkered down at the recognition of a kindred spirit, one who understands the value of a story told with respect, in depth and with exquisite attention to detail, and allowed myself to be swept away into a galaxy and time far, far away, but as current as today, as compelling as yesterday.
Told with the lush prose of a Jane Austen, as well as with that author's incisive, detailed and quite pointed barbs at social strata and the constraints on actors thrust onto stages not of their own choosing, this is science fiction masquerading as historical fiction on the grandest scale. It also had me reminiscing about the opulence of the Russian literary tradition--certainly the staging reeks of Imperialist Russia and the machinations of members of the Imperial House waging a form of class warfare for political and social advantage.
Then throw in wormholes, arcane technology, competing planets/houses of commerce, space travel, sophisticated methods for oversight, loyalty, brotherhood, social niceties, mannerisms, sexual discrimination, depression, horrendous/heinous acts of violence... ball gowns to die for, fashion as weapon, symbology. And a sigh-worthy love story.
Do I have your attention? I certainly hope I do.
Told from Felicia's Sorenson's point-of-view throughout, this young woman is definitely to the manor born, wealthy, privileged, albeit a bit naïve and untutored in the ways of court. That little problem is taken care of by her sorority's matron and mentor, Lady Brighton, whose main task is to see to the proper upbringing of the High Royals placed in her charge as they further their education at university, an education with a singular goal: marriage and propagating lineage.

One thing I really appreciated about this book is that the science is important, but not at all overwhelming. A lot of people think science fiction is all about the concepts. Ms. Caye is all about the story, as Felicia's scientific knowledge shows itself little by little, and ends up helping Victor save the day. What's most important is how she shows science isn't just a disipline. It's research by real people for real needs.

Dignity is a very easy, free-flowing read. It is precise and clear, as if someone were describing the scenes of a movie, except they also know what's going on in the character's head.

I am anxiously awaiting Ms. Caye's next book!

A Science Fiction Romance; an interesting concept. No monsters set on devouring as much of humanity as possible. No innocuous appearing bipedal beings secretly intent on enslaving us or wresting our planet and all it's natural resources from us. How refreshing!

Set approximately 500 years in the future with the associated changes one might expect along with others one would not typically anticipate, this novel brings something fresh and refreshing to the reader.

Ms. Caye's writing style develops the characters (a brilliant, young college student interested primarily in scientific pursuits and an Emperor of a multi planet federation) into an unseemly, yet believable romance. The scenes are richly described; the thoughts, concerns and motivations of each character are explored. The novel speaks to intelligence not being a hindrance to genuine altruistic emotion.

Ms. Caye has also shown sensitivity with regard to the sexual content associated with a romance.

Felicia is a brainy college student with the problematic good fortune of an Emperor of the planet for a boyfriend. This situation is not all roses, as it comes with political back-stabbing and assassination attempts. But she deals with the problems like she does her lab courses - with logic and insight - and a dose of compassion as well. Loyal friends, evil enemies, and almost unlimited resources. This is a fun first novel, and sets the stage for more excitement on the planet with the royal family.

I loved it! DIGNITY has great characters and a romantic plot with a sexy, sci fi setting. I can't wait until the next book comes out, what a bargain!

The first novel in the To Be Sinclair series was a real surprise for me. The writing and editing was nearly flawless and the story definitely satisfied. I would have rated it 4.5 stars if possible.

This smart, richly-detailed tale beautifully blends science fiction and romance in a lush setting with intricate politics, backstory and world-building. I connected with both Felicia and Victor from their very first exchange and throughout their difficult romantic journey. After all, it's not easy to forge a love affair when he is the reigning Emperor of a planetary system and she is a brilliant, and always chaperoned, student.

Victor's tragic backstory as the sole survivor of his royal family affected me on a very deep level. In spite of this dark history, he's risen to become a powerful and respected but very lonely ruler. The large supporting cast of characters--from royals to rivals to watchmen to mentors to peers--are equally well drawn and fleshed-out.

Though this story may not appeal to those who demand a lightning pace, there are several unexpected and dangerous twists in the plot that continuously up the stakes, as well as offering puzzling mysteries to be solved. Victor and Felicia often struggle through their conflicts and decisions about their future--and whether that future will be together or apart. I related to Felicia's choices on every level as she grappled with what she was driven to do vs. her love for Victor and her desire to be part of his life. I also respected Victor for having the strength to compromise, even in the face of criticism and censure by powerful foes.
