Important Information

Ingredients
100% Pure Ceylon, Single Origin Black Tea

Directions
BREWING GUIDELINES: TEA BAGS -- To brew, draw fresh cold water into a kettle and bring to boil. Pour the boiled water into a clean and dry ceramic tea pot containing one tea bag per person. Use about 200ml of water per bag. Take care not to use too much water as this will produce a light infusion, whilst too little could make the tea excessively strong. Stir after one minute and allow to steep for a further two or three minutes before serving. This is a light, bright and delicate tea, therefore best taken without milk and ideally also without sugar. If sugar is desired, use a small amount or try honey as a natural sweetener.

Product Description

Pattern Name: String & Tag

Finely balanced richness, flavour, strength and aroma for the perfect tea. Tea perfect for everyday drinking from the central highlands of Sri Lanka, reputed for its brightness and medium strength. ABOUT THE BRAND Some years ago, Americans drank mainly Ceylon Tea, the world's finest. Today, almost any brand you buy is a multi-origin blend that is a mix of teas from several countries. Dilmah, new to the U.S, is the number one brand of authentic, garden fresh Single Origin Ceylon tea in over 90 countries. Dilmah is Single Origin, 100% Pure Ceylon, entirely grown, handpicked & packaged in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), producer of the world's finest tea. Single Origin explains why Dilmah is fresher, richer and full of flavour. Discerning tea drinkers will recognise the distinct difference in the very first sip. Dilmah is Packed at Source, Garden Fresh. Packaging in Sri Lanka, within days of picking fresh leaf in the tea fields, maximizes freshness, the key to antioxidants in tea. Founder Merrill J. Fernando is the most senior master tea taster today and his face appears on every pack of Dilmah tea, as his personal guarantee of the quality and freshness of Dilmah. Merrill & his two sons Dilhan & Malik (from whose names the brand name was coined) offer aficionados a truly different experience of tea. Dilmah is Traditionally Manufactured. Ordinary teas have abandoned the centuries’ old "orthodox" method of manufacture for the fast track "CTC" (cut twist curl) process, to meet demand for a quicker brew from tea bags. This has sacrificed the character and real taste of tea. Dilmah stands firmly by traditional tea making methods, which explains why Dilmah tea tastes so different. Dilmah is the world’s first truly ethical tea. It is the only international brand name owned by tea growers. We pack our tea shelf ready, right where it is grown. Earnings therefore remain in Sri Lanka for the benefit of our workers. Visit www.mjffoundation.org and Dilmah.com to learn more.

I'm a Brit living in the US and so it's tough to find a tea up to the standards you'd get back in he UK, but we discovered Dilmah tea whilst living in Australia and I was delighted to find I could get it via Amazon! This tea has plenty of flavour but is pretty light. It's perfect for those of us who like a "proper" cup of tea i.e. with milk dumped in it, but also it's light enough to drink without milk for you crazy folks who don't know the proper way to drink tea!!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention I was very pleased with the pricing on this too.

I completely dis-agree with the previous reviewer's (Deb)comments. My husband grew up in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) the traditional name of the country. If one takes the time to read where this tea was harvested you will find that this tea is from Ceylon. When comparing this tea to others such as:
P.G. Tips tea (sad attempt by the Brits at a tea),
Teavana (again weak)
Bigelow Tea Company (weak and tasteless)
Stash Tea (weak and tasteless)
Republic of Tea (decent but too costly for the small quantity you get and the bulk of the price comes from the package not the product itself)
Celestial Seasonings ("Pop" culture" hippy tea with no taste and has been ruined by flavors like "Sweet Harvest Pumpkin Black Holiday Tea")...
Tetley (a tea pretending to be an English tea.)
Lipton (just no)

Tea is like anything else in the culinary world, it is an art, a process, a creation. Everything matters when wanting to select a tea. One should learn about where the tea was grown, how it was harvested, who plucked the tea leaves and what age were the leaves when they were picked? Do the leaves get blended with anything else or any other type of tea leaves (fillers)?. Many companies will say they use a "blend" of Ceylon teas. There is no such thing as a blend of "Ceylon teas". If you talk with people who grew up in tea drinking counties where tea originated, and no this wasn't England. They will tell you, you do not "blend" teas. The majority of people are unaware that tea was first drank/grown and harvested in Burma(Myanmar, China and India. The order of the countries does not indicate the order in which tea began being drunk. These countries were "discovered" by England and thus England began drinking tea after "visiting' these places..

Thank you Amazon, for selling this wonderful tea. I first tried it in Fiji, some 5 years ago. I was hooked from the first sip! The flavor is rich, the color is dark - definately pure Ceylon. I was unable to find Dilmah tea in the States, so I had to order directly from the manufacturer, in Sri Lanka. It was a fine experience, except I had to remember to notify my credit card that there would be an international charge, or they would decline the transaction, thus making me wait even longer for my precious tea. It is very reasonable to purchase directly via Amazon! Thank you.

As many other reviewers have noted, this is high quality, great tasting tea- it's clear once you start drinking it that it's clearly a step above most other teas. It's all made from plants grown locally in one area, and not a blend of tea from a variety of sources- and it tastes like it: clean, and fresh.

Added to that, it's great to know that the family that runs Dilmah is one of very few businesses that are paying decent wages to their workers- tea is a very labor intensive product, and there has been a number of complaints from workers in the industry about their pay- but not so for Dilmah.

I am from new Zealand and they have this tea in all the grocery stores over there, I loved it when lived thee and missed it when I moved to the USA. I ran out of my stash from my last trip home and was bummed. I was thrilled when I took a chance and looked to see if amazon selled it and they do! I love the taste, it is better than any tea we have in the USA and they other thing I love is that they are not individually wrapped which is not wasting paper and extra packaging. They do not have strings and that may bother some, but I like it better as you can compost them or put them right down the waste disposal.

Def give this tea a try if you are a tea drinker, it's the best!

Have been drinking Dilma Tea for a couple years. Being a lover of good quality tea,
having been raised on top quality tea in India, I find this about the best on the American market.

Being from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) I really missed my morning cup of tea after coming to the US. As a coffee drinking nation it is hard to find high quality black tea for a reasonable price in the US local grocery stores. The Lipton tea in the local grocery store has a cardboard artificial taste that I decided to have coffee rather than drinking Lipton. For 3 years I have been consuming coffee but the nostalgia associated with a good cup of tea after a long day did not go away.

Finally I came upon Dilmah which is the best I can get in this country. Thank you Amazon for selling this product. Now I am a tea person again and a very happy one. However I have to tell that the Bogawanthalawa Brand is the best I have tasted of Ceylon tea. But unfortunately Amazon does not carry it. Dilmah comes very near to Bogawanthalawa tea in taste and is the best I can do while in the US.
