This wonderful CD captures the rhythm and energy in Dilon Djindji's music. I was lucky enough to see him perform in Maputo, Mozamabique in September 2005 and the CD captures the effortless groove of his performance - and even though he's now 78, he sings (and dances) with the energy of a man half his age. This is a must have CD for everyone into African music.

I bought this after hearing a brief story on "The World." What a great CD. I listened to it during the recent cold snap, it was nearly 0 outside, but Dilon Djindji warmed me right up. He music is like a smooth, fresh pool, inviting and refreshing. My kids (3 and 7) loved it just as much, and spent an evening dancing to the rhythms. I can't wait to hear more, and I'm thrilled that this treasure of Mozambique is recording for all to hear!

Mozambiquan old-timer Dilon Djindi has a subtle grace and melodic softness that is similar to Madagascar's Dama and D'Gary, a plainspoken acoustic sound that will appeal to folks who like their world music sweet and unpretentious. Amazingly, this is Djindi's first album, although he was 75 years old and has been performing professionally for many decades when this set was recorded. Well, better late than never! I don't think anyone will complain about the wait once they hear this sweet set of gentle acoustic tunes.
