Lost Art of Dimensional Analysis,
By Mark Ginsberg (U.S.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dimensional Analysis and Theory of Models (Hardcover)
In recent years Dimensional Analysis (DA) has been alive and well in fluid mechanics. Other disciplines have not taught DA as a primary analysis tool. This book is excellent in showing DA applied to diverse topics with chapters on: strength of materials, fluid mechanics, theory of heat, electromagnetism, and differential equations. The book's chapters are self contained papers which refer to each other only minimally. Therefore if you need to work on a specific problem, you can look up the salient facts quickly. But with a book this short (155 pages in a 4" by 6" format) and a lucid writing style, it is one of the few textbooks that I would classify as a "page turner". It's hard to put down without reading it cover to cover.
