Their best work...don't know why this hasn't been reviewed yet., March 17, 2011
This review is from: Dimensions (Audio CD)
Every song on this album is good. A few of the songs are instant classics. Great melodies, solid vocals, trippy music, beautiful lyrical imagery. Their other albums are also good, but this is just in another league. I know I sound like a broken record saying this, but it's really sad that albums this good have zero reviews and little recognition. Any objective listener who actually likes good music will be blown away by this album. Most of the songs will get stuck in your head and a few will bring tears to your eyes. "Love and Redemption" could easily be one of the best songs every written. A nice mixture of brutal sadness and hope in the lyrics. Wilco + The Beatles + The National + Brian Jonestown Massacre + The Jayhawks + The Clientele + Beach Boys + (early) Moody Blues + The Monkees. There isn't anything revolutionary about this album, but the great pop music and lyrics make for a timeless quality and a mixture of many of the greatest rock/pop/alt country bands of all-time. While I love good experimental music, I also appreciate musicians who can wear their influences on their sleeve and recreate and sometimes transcend the voices of the past. The production is also nice...not too clean, not too fuzzy. A great album for relaxation, getting high, sleeping, or enjoying over a cold glass of whiskey.
