Customer Reviews

I love this cross stitch pattern.

As far as the time that this is going to take me and the detail in the finished work, this kit is amazing.
AuntieWitch
I look forward to framing it as it will match Fall decor.

I really love this kit. I got it about two years ago, and I've worked on it on and off in between other projects for that time. The thread colors are gorgeous, and the finishing effects are super awesome. That said, I *hate* back-stitching, and this chart has a lot of it (with metallic thread no less!), but it really does pull the chart together. The beading, for example, makes the snow flakes coming out of her hand look so cool!

I would guess that this would be about a 200 hour project, given time estimates for other projects that I've completed in the past. I'm a fairly average stitcher (I tend to hit time estimates within an hour or so either way), and I spent about 75 hours on the (almost entirely half-stitch) background. I didn't notice any mistakes in the chart, and this is typical with all of the Dimensions kits that I've completed.

As for the thread problems that other reviewers have had, I have to agree that Dimensions thread is a bit more finicky than DMC, but that can be remedied easily with a dryer sheet. Just run the threaded needle through the sheet! You can buy more expensive floss detangler, but it's pretty much the same thing. The fabric softener then washes right out when you wash your completed project. I also always cut Dimensions floss in half, and use shorter pieces. If I'm going to buy a kit, then you betcha I'm going to use the thread that I paid for!

I'm very big on complicated fairy patterns and this one did not disappoint. Very beautiful colors and use of extra details like French Knots and couching. The best part about the kit is that everything is included--except enough thread. I was very unhappy with the amount of thread included and the quality. The punch card sorting system seems practical at first but eventually ripped because the holes were not reinforced--especially when you have to trade out colors so frequently. Consistent breaking and fraying meant I had to use more thread then was provided and when I contacted customer service to request more (as it says you can in the kit) they gave me a hard time about it and sent me a conversion chart so I could purchase the DMC/Anchor equivalent. I should have just used DMC thread in the first place.

When I eventually finish (about 3/4 of the way done) it will have been a worthwhile endeavor but my advice is to trade out the thread IMMEDIATELY for DMC or Anchor rather then use their shoddy equivalent.

I have just started the Fall Fairy counted cross stitch. It comes with presorted thread, which is convenient but I still need to find a way to keep it from getting tangled. What the product description/picture doesn't tell you is that it also includes metallic gold thread for cording and little gold beads for finishing. I think once I do finish it, which will probably be a long time from now, it will be beautiful. The Aida does seem a little flimsy, but I'm not a very experienced cross stitcher so I don't know if this is a bad thing or not. The colors are rich and beautiful and I am excited to see what it looks like when it is completed.

I love this cross stitch pattern. I have spent many hours looking for my next project and no other pattern is able to live up to "Woodland Enchantress". The details are spectacular and the finished product is a true work of art. One of the elements I really liked about this cross stitch pattern were all of the finishing touches: backstitching, couching, french knots, and cording. Though time consuming these details help transition the cross stitch to a higher level of beauty. I wish that Dimensions Gold Collection had a larger selection of fantasy cross stitch patterns. With on again off again stitching this cross stitch took me two years to complete. It was well worth the investment of time. I throughly enjoyed the hours I spent creating this piece of art. I highly recommend this pattern.

Inreally like the design of this kit, especially because it includes floss that is SORTED in an easy to see way. I do NOT recommend buying ANY Bucilla products (this is Dimensions, and it's by far the BEST brand). Bucilla products come with a huge hunk of floss that is almost impossible to separate, then you have to guess what colors match with what label. With all Dimensions kits, it comes with a floss separator that has every color labeled by number. The floss isn't on the annoying generic cardboard with holes in it, the floss is glued at the top between two durable pieces of cardboard and some kind of thin foam. I'll NEVER buy anything but Dimensions brand!

This is the third Dimensions cross stitching project I've completed, and I am very satisfied with the result. It looks exactly like the picture! I love that the threads are all pre-sorted and that you get a little bit more than enough of each color (I even had thread left over after having to redo parts I counted incorrectly). The methods used in this kit include cross stitching, back stitching, couching, and a LOT of French knots.

Great colors, all the items were in the package. You will need to sort the colors on your own and some can be tricky, remember to sort under good light. It's too big for most circular frames, I got a stand and square frame from Wal-Mart. Works well with this design. Great to kill the many hours of being snowed in. :)

New edit: I forgot to mention that there are 4 bundles of floss that come with the kit. Each have a brightly colored bit of yarn around each bundle, that yarn identifies if it's Bundle 1-4 which coincides with the 2 floss cards that have 1/2, 3/4. I suggest having your hole puncher ready as the cards are not pre-punched. The colors are very light and you will notice the piece getting dingy as you work, just wash as suggested on the paper instructions. I'll put up a picture of the piece once I have all the stitching done but before the finishing work (lines that accent detail).
