5.0 out of 5 stars Moonlight Paradise
I just finished this painting. This is not appropriate for someone under the age of 15. The spaces are small, and for a child it would be difficult. This is not the first painting that I have purchased. I have purchased paintings from both Deminsions and CraftHouse. The only complaint that I have about Demensions is that they only provide one brush and most of the time...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for a beginning painter
This is a very complicated paint-by-number and definitely not for a beginner. I wouldn't classify it as a toy since it is more for an adult. Since I am a beginner I was afraid to start with such a complicated picture so went to Wal-Mart and bought a simple one to use for practice. I'm sure when I finish this picture, which will be a while, it will be beautiful.

This is not the first painting that I have purchased. I have purchased paintings from both Deminsions and CraftHouse. The only complaint that I have about Demensions is that they only provide one brush and most of the time the bristles splinter and it makes it difficult to paint the small areas. CraftHouse always provides 2 which is what I use on all of the paintings. I enjoy all of the paintings that I have purchased. I lean more to the scenery especially the sea scapes.

5.0 out of 5 stars How To Make Your Painting "Pop"!, July 14, 2008
By
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This is my favorite Paint-by-Number kit ever. It is expensive & time-consuming, but after 3 months of hard work, I have it framed in my room, & all my friends & family have asked me where I bought it from. Delighted, I respond "I made it!" :)

The trick to having this painting "pop" off the canvas is this: paint it at least twice. With one coat, it looked decent. But there were parts where the paint had dried thin, so I decided to re-do the entire piece... the final product came out like magic! And it's okay to go outside the lines here & there because it gives the piece your own unique flare.

Now for that red tinge on the top-right building: that's a doozy. What you need to do is mix your "N" color, take a dry paint brush & dip a little bit of paint on the end, then paint a few straight lines on your mixing well to get the paint "thinned" out a bit. Now, scuff the remaining color onto various places of your building and use your finger or a paper towel to rub it in. Experiment! It's your painting! The beauty of this technique is if you mess up (like I did), you can re-paint right over it and try again!

Finally, have patience. Work hard and your painting will be fabulous! It really is possible for your work to come out BETTER than the picture on the box!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just awesome!, May 20, 2008

I am so impresed by the art work that this company provides for their PBN kits. Beautifully drawn and professional, this view of a sunset cabin really gives you a feeling of peace. This is a paint-by-number that is actually worth your time to complete. When you're done, you've really got something worthwhile.

If you are looking for something to do to reduce stress, or know a friend who wants to try his hand at painting, Sunset Cabin Paintworks is a super one to start with.

Have fun! ('Cause that's what it's all about!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Kit, Pretty Scene, August 8, 2006

You'd better like the color green before you start this kit! This is a cute picture of a horse 'family' by a stream.

Paintworks produces a quality paint-by-numbers kit, and this one was no exception...However, I do wish they'd package these with a smaller brush. There is no way the monster-sized brush is useful for filling in anything but the largest sky pieces. You are better off ditching the brush and buying the smallest acrylic brush you can find.

I was also a bit disappointed to find myself running low on some of the green shades, particularly the bright chartreuse. Its used for everything! Also, as usual, the number wear off the paint-pots long before you finish the piece so you are better off getting a permanent marker and marking the numbers on the bottom of the pot before beginning. 5 stars.

I was also a bit disappointed at the size of the cartoons in this one. The finished product was a little blocky which is not what I have come to expect from a paintworks kit. Also, as usual, the number wear off the paint-pots long before you finish the piece so you are better off getting a permanent marker and marking the numbers on the bottom of the pot before beginning. 4 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun to paint and beautiful finished!, November 17, 2008
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This project is definitely not beginner level, but it was fun and the finished product was incredibly beautifully. I have purchased several other projects from Paintworks directly and they do provide one brush, but that brush is of a low quality. The bristles are usually toast about 1/3 of the way through the project. I used my own brush set on this one. The directions for this one come in two pieces that you have to hold together which was a little annoying. Some of the smaller spots are not marked on the canvas so you have to look them up on the two piece chart or use the reference picture on the box for an idea. There was more than enough paint for the whole project also. Overall it was very enjoyable and I had fun which was the whole point. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but Worth It!, July 14, 2008
By
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This was over-priced, but it's worth the buy. After finishing the picture, I framed it & all my friends are shocked that it was made by me. It really does look "professional" and store-bought.

Now for the Bad Points: There are a lot of straight edges on this piece, so it helps to use painter's tape. I cut mine into smaller, thinner strips to help get the legs of the fruit stand. Also, if you get this kit, go to Wal-Mart or a craft store immediately and buy yourself a pack of different sized "small/angled" DECENT paintbrushes (Packs of about 9 run $6-$7). The one that comes in the box is worthless and cheap. There is a LOT of mixing involved, so turn your fan off while working to help keep the custom colors from drying so quickly.

This kit is not for the meek-of-heart. Be prepared for this project to last about a month or so. Good luck to you all & I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it, January 26, 2008
This painting has such a large variety of colors. Loved it when each tree, bush, path and bridge started becoming brilliant. It's not a beginners painting but I still did it. I took my time and it was worth it. So beautiful that I professionaly framed it for my hallway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!!!!!, November 18, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This is a beautiful picture when finished. It is my second paint by numbers. I am so proud of it, never thought I was at all artistic. Love it!!!!!! My first painting was Moonlit Cabin which I also love. Wish I could find more realistic sceneries to do. Would also like to see some realistic celestial paintings.
