Review

Dimensions Of Time And Life surveys in 21 essays life and time as they are understood in the biological, cognitive, and psychological dimensions; the experience of time and life in words, sounds, and images; and time and life as ordered according to sociological, historical, and anthropological perspectives. Among the essays are J. T. Fraser's Time and the Origin of Life; Lennart Lundmark's The Separation of Time and Nature; Augusto's Time and the Individual in the Contemporary World - The Meaning of Death; Paul Harris' The Light of Time - Einstein and Faulkner; Sabine Gross' Real Time, Life Time, Media Time - The Multiple Temporality of Film; Judy Lochhead's The Expressivity of Tempo and Timing in Musical Performance; and John Stuhr's Pragmatism, Life, and the Politics of Time. Dimensions Of Time And Life is a presentation of some of the best contemporary thinking available. -- Midwest Book Review

I was both amazed and pleased by the scholarly yet readable treatment of the subject, and of the scope of the coverage. It goes well on my shelf alongside other books with the word "time" in the title.
