The McGees Renew my Faith in New Music, November 19, 2000

Being a "30 something" and having more varied taste in musical genres I find "Dimestone Romeos" by The McGees an awesome debut album.The folk/country/pop mix sound reminds me of Crowded House meets Jacob Dylan (not bad artists to be compared to!).From the catchy strumming and melody of "You and I" to the ballad "I Only Cry" this cd offers a varied selection of songs that don't all sound the same! The cover version of "Rock Soldiers" is better than the original in my opinion."One Of These Days",a Beatlesque sounding tune has become my favourite on the disc. Stumbling upon "Dimestone Romeos" has given me incentive to visit my local cd store more often.How many other gems by other artists am I missing out on? How many of us can relate to the "Rich and Tina's" of the world (Track #4)...or better yet...are Rich or Tina's! Great work Pancho,Lefty and Cousin McGee.Keep the music alive.
