anyone found a good protective case to store these in (for traveling)? I have 2 of the lights; but haven't had to travel via airplane with them yet. May 4, 2014
Best I can offer is this lil' trick: I have 3 units. I went to Dick's Sports and bought a $9 hand gun case. It's got padding in it, it's plastic, and it's the right size for a few of these. It fits three units plus batteries and 5/8" to coldshoe adapters for each (so I can place on stands). I'm sure there's cases like this on here on Amazon. I consider these a poor man's pelican but be clear that while protective they are no pelican case. I hope this helps.
How well would this work as a replacement for an off camera speedlight flash? and could it be mounted? Jun 7, 2013
The LED light and your speedlight are two different animals intended to be used for two different types of photography. The LED light is intended to be used with a video camera and your speedlight is used with your still camera. They produce different types of light each one for it's intended use. I have used he LED to check shadowing before shooting with the speedlight but I have never used it as a main source of light because of possible color shifts. I have a friend who uses his to paint with light in his night photography, which works very well. I never mount my speeslight directly on my camera so I wouldn't mount the LED light on my camera if I was to use it which I wouldn't.
For the price, this light is basically disposable.
How long does the battery life last, using AA's compared to compared to camera batteries? Mar 17, 2013

What is the actual size of the flash? I have a small Panasonic video camera I want to use with. The product dimension says 16.2 x 6.7 x 3.2 inches; seems quite big for this small camera. Jul 23, 2014
It's not petite, but it's not as large as they described. The light box is 3.5 in H, 5.5 in W and 2 in D. It is attached to a plastic cold shoe with an adjustable angle, so maybe they're measuring the entire device. It holds 6 or 8 AA cells (as I recall) so it's not light, but it's a very bright adjustable light. If you're shooting a wedding, for example, you could easily directly light a small group or use it as a bounce light. The fact that it's constant and adjustable, you can just look at the subject and adjust the brightness of the light as you desire.
I'm wondering if two of these at full power will be sufficient to light a white background backdrop? It says max power 9.6W which is really low 4 days ago
Gregory Family: I think that the wattage rating on LED lights can be deceiving. A three watt LED flashlight can throw a focused beam for probably one hundred yards. I think that with any light that distance comes into play before power. These throw a cold bluish white light that carries fairly well at 10 feet or so. Using the orange filter to warm the light cuts down on the throw considerably. I primarily use these to shoot when I have to contend with overhead fluorescent lights. Buy one,,,if it doesn't work out return it. One of the perks of Amazon. Good luck
