4.0 out of 5 stars Good bulb
I have had some months of operation now with a number of these, and am quite satisfied. I do have to use a socket extender for them to fit in my can's, but those are inexpensive and, with them on, they fit perfectly (a form factor problem... that is the main reason I did not go to 5 stars).

I did have one order of 2 that had to be returned, because they sent...

2.0 out of 5 stars Weird color cast
I was excited to try these after getting and loving some of the PAR20 dimmable LED bulbs from LED Wholesalers via Amazon, but the one we got to try out, even though it's the "warm white" version, has a strange, cold color cast. I tried it out in our kitchen, and the brightness was decent if not great -- perhaps equivalent to a 40 watt incandescent -- but the light made...

2.0 out of 5 stars Weird color cast, September 24, 2010

I was excited to try these after getting and loving some of the PAR20 dimmable LED bulbs from LED Wholesalers via Amazon, but the one we got to try out, even though it's the "warm white" version, has a strange, cold color cast. I tried it out in our kitchen, and the brightness was decent if not great -- perhaps equivalent to a 40 watt incandescent -- but the light made steak turn an unappetizing shade of greenish brown.

The dimming performance is quite good, but the color cast from the bulb is much worse than a normal incandescent, or even a good CFL. It makes skin tones and wood look kind of sickly. It's a shame, since I really wanted this bulb to work out.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: DANGEROUS - Stay Away From This Brand, September 17, 2010

DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND! It almost started a fire. One unit popped and started sizzling and smoking at the socket the instant the light switch was turned on. The others appear okay. However, I'm not chancing my family's safety with these pieces of garbage. To be sure it was the LED bulb, I installed a regular light bulb I was using. It works fine, so the LED bulb was definitely defective. Do NOT buy!!!

The seller claims this LED light is dimmable. It's not!

I'd return it; but it's not worth the trouble. I'll just use it in a fixture that's not controlled by a dimmer switch, and I'll keep looking for a dimmable light.

Our first LEDs. The color is very good, very bright, definitely comparable to an incandescent.. Yes, we wish they cost less, but we're hoping to cut energy costs as well as replacement costs over the long haul.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality light, December 15, 2010

LED lights are still expensive, but the energy/cost savings is great and their service life is long. This light seems to put out lumens equivalent to an incandescent or even a fluorescent light. Comparing the ratings on LEDs, versus other types of lights is difficult and a bit confusing. Some use Lumens, others watts or equivalent watts, others "equivalent" brightness ratings, etc. The quality of construction is excellent. Another feature we like is that most LED lights can be used with existing dimmer switches; most fluorescent/CFL lights cannot. When the price comes down more, then a five-star rating is probable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Still waiting for a good LED PAR30..., November 23, 2011

I've been trying to find a good, dimmable LED PAR30 whose light my family can live with. Unfortunately, I struck out again with this one.
It failed my wife's color test ("too cold"). More importantly the dimming function didn't work at all well. When I dimmed the light, it buzzed very loudly and often flickered. I couldn't dim it to a low value -- it was still pretty bright before it turned off completely. I use the standard triac-based dimmers.
Keep looking.

2.0 out of 5 stars not warm enough, October 8, 2011

aloha,
purchased one bulb to try out in our retail shop. goal is to convert all par30 track lighting to LED's as LED costs come down and light quality gets better. we are currently mixing cfl's and par30's. we found that this one is not warm enough. rather ghastly actually -- for what we want, which is warm + fuzzy. also the spot seemed weak, didn't create a nice warm pool of light on our white floor like our par30 spots do. our tracks are at 10'. and not suitable for lighting artwork. i did like the construction of the bulb. it would make a gorgeous fixture clustered together with sides exposed, too bad the light is not warm enough! had to return it. gotta keep looking, sigh...

4.0 out of 5 stars Bright enough, August 23, 2011

This bulb is bright enough.
My only complain is it's too spot light so it is not a good choice for recess light.
I purchased Philips LED bulb instead for kitchen and I will use this bulb to others.

Dims nicely, puts out clear white light, and saves a bunch on energy. The one problem I had with this light was that, compared to a conventional incandescent bulb, the light was more directed, so for my recessed ceiling lights in my kitchen, it looks like I have 4 spotlights. I'm hoping that buyuing reflecting trim for each light might help with the problem.
