This review is from: Dimmu Borgir: Devil's Path / Old Man's Child: In the Shades of Life (Audio CD)
I say this not because I hate Dimmu Borgir. Quite the opposite actually, but it's just that I don't really like the 2 mixes of Nocturnal fear. Anyway Let me review this in 2 parts:

Dimmu Borgir: IT starts with a different mix of Master Of Disharmony than on the Enthrone Darknes Triumphant. I like this version. It has a live feel to it and it has a great intro. Then there's Devil's Path which is more rough than their latest work. It's a lot more hardcore Black Metal. Then there's 2 versions of Nocturnal Fear which I heard was a cover. Don't like these 2 mixes that much as I stated before.

Old Man's Child: One word:"AWESOME!" I had never heard music by this band before but seriously it rules. They sound somewhat like Dimmu Borgir but a little more metal oriented. I love this part of the CD. The last song is a big synth piece that sounds really evil. Seriously my dog goes nuts from that song. No joke. He'll get all nervous and panicky.

Overal this is a good CD to get to know either of these bands. Some may say that both these bands are sell-outs but I don't care. They make good music and that means more to me than what kinda recordlabel they're signed to. Ofcourse this CD only shows a little bit of both of these bands' work so if you like what you hear go check out what else they have to offer.
