I dont have central heat and air for years now. I been looking for sometime a good strong heater that works on a 220V shocket.
I finally saw this one and bought it.
Same size as your typical plug in Electric heaters. The chord to plug into the socket tho is the same as my 24,000 BTU a/c....it's a Big thick 10 gauge chord with a 30 am terminal.
Anyhow, of you have a 30 amp socket, your good to go.
This unit is is waaaaaaaaaaaay Hotter than ANY standard plug in heater. Those at BEST will give you 5,100 BTU, this unit gives you 16,000 BTU's. About as much as a kerosene heater.
Has your typical controls for a heater, on off, and a thermostat by numbers (1 to 6). I highly recommend this Heater for anyone ho has no central heat or you need heat in your garage or work shed, this is perfect.

I bought this for my 20'x20' semi-insulated attached garage in Wisconsin. It cranks out some heat, but not enough to realistically heat that garage in the winter unless it runs ALL the time. Nicely built unit, VERY simple, basically a coil, fan, and thermostat. There is nothing else inside this thing. When I turned this unit on, and placed it next to my existing 120V 1500W fan heater ($10 type model), I had to check several times because I didn't even think the 1500w heater was turned on! This unit cranks out some heat for it's size. It's basically the size of two shoeboxes taped together, or maybe a pice of paper, it's very small. It helps in the garage, but I found that it is better used in my basement where it can make a bid difference in just a few minutes of use.

Remember you need a 30 amp 240 volt outlet for this. I used my dryer outlet, since I now have a gas dryer. I made up an extension cord that plugs into the existing dryer outlet, and has the 30 amp NEMA outlet on the other end. I got all the stuff at Home Depot, and the cord will be the most expensive part (you need 12 guage, 3 conductors total, no neutral needed).

All in all- not big enough for the garage, but works nice in the workshop. 4800 watts is a lot of power though so I expect a big electric bill :)

Nice little heater. Works well keeping a vacant space warm through the winter. Note that this is a 208/230 volt unit so plan to have the proper circuit available. A little smaller than expected but it's still fine.

I set this unit up in my car and half garage. works great! takes about 30min to take the temp from 32f to 55. after one hour the garage is up to 65!!! all of this and there is no insulation and its a detached garage in the middle of a Cleveland winter! garage is a billiard room that now can be played in all year round. AWSOME LITTLE HEATER!

Bought this unit as a construction site heater and it has fulfilled the purpose admirably. Compact, well engineered, quality built, powerful and reasonably priced. I plan on keeping this unit as a garage heater for those vehicle emergencies and, "Winter projects," that can't be put off till Spring. RW

HEATER DOES A GOOD JOB HEATING, PACKAGING WAS MINIMAL - ROTATING TEMP SWITCH WAS BENT BUT STILL WORKED.
NEEDS A FAN ONLY SELECTION OR A THERMAL SWITCH TO KEEP FAN GOING UNTIL HEAT COILS COOL OFF, GETS VERY HOT WHEN CYCLES OFF - WONDER ABOUT ITS LONGIVITY.

This item clearly says "made in china"! I bought it based on the canadian claim and positive comments. It does
seem to be a good little heater though. I am finishing a 650 sq ft shop and bought this to heat it. It was 40 deg outside to day and didn't have trouble keeping the shop 65 deg. To be fair it is not totally insulated yet, about 90%. So far worth the money but what's up with made in canada?

This is an OK heater bu the cabinet gets hot so best keep on a metal of other non flammable surface...it gets HOT! The cord is the 30 amp 250 like others but would liked better if not formed plastic but a screw removable type to use the ubiquitous dryer 30 amp plug. I chose to open the Chinese puzzle box cabinet to repair the dented metal and attach a long cord but used a twist lock for secure connection since had to change service at my box.

I would investigate other models that have ducted air path and may not get as hot. Also, the extra 1k watt of some other models would be nice. This is 4800 watt though not stated in manual? or on the cabinet. 140 at big box store and I got mine for about $70 from Fulfillment damage cabinet. It wasn't hard to fix once I figured out how to open the cabinet. Dimplex is about $100 from Amazon for best deals. Other models listing for about $140 to $200+ but are said to be 5600 watts. The added watts mean shorter run at 12 gauge wire or a jump to 10 gauge to place out 30 or more feet at higher rated and that wire is a bit more expensive.

CRITICAL...for a "construction site or work site heater, the exposed control is at the back bottom. It is VERY vulnerable. Thermal consideration probably dictate location but the control is awkward and can be damaged while in use or when stored. Pay attention to this aspect of any heater. Knob does not switch off the power as the t-stat is energized at all times by one leg.

I saved a lot given damaged discounted unit so I don't regret a lot but if had to spend the going price I'd say go for the bigger units that have better heat insulation. Read the review since these present a genuine fire risk. Portable heater are among the most dangerous home appliance. Sadly some deaths have occurred by unsafe use of home area heaters so PLEASE use caution and use SMOKE DETECTORS and have FRESH FIRE EXTINGUISHER whenever using electrical appliances
