Book Description

September 1, 2006 Dine Out Phoenix (Including Scottsdale): Where to Eat from Chic to
Surveying more than 200 restaurants, this insider's guide to Phoenix covers dining spots that suit any mood, budget, or occasion. In addition to an alphabetical listing of establishments—including contact information, cuisine, hours of operation, price ranges, and whether or not reservations are necessary—the guide presents a section of indexed lists to assist in the selection process. User-friendly, accessible indices are organized by location, cuisine, and features to enable diners to quickly zone in on a selection, such as the site for a great Asian meal or a private party of any size, a restaurant perfect for a girls' day out or for sealing a business deal, or one that is located nearby or worth a scenic drive. Insider tips reveal what makes a place a personal favorite, the best tables, the best dishes, and the best times to dine.

This review is from: Dine Out Phoenix: Where to Eat from Chic to Unique (Dine Out Phoenix (Including Scottsdale): Where to Eat from Chic to) (Paperback)
The only dining out guide available in large Phoenix bookstore. Buy local -- I guess -- as the author lives in Scottsdale.

Lists a lot of good places in a range of prices. With full-page review for each restaurant, you get a real sense of each restaurant. ("Mesquite-grilled quail" lets me both the foodie sophistication of a menu and its ambience and price.)

There are NO ratings in the book, so if you're looking the top five restaurants in town, they may be here, but they aren't singled out. The book does have multiple indexes, however.

Four stars from me because it's not comprehensive. Still worthwhile.

I see the Zagat Arizona restaurant guide was published in 1989! So this must be the current best choice.
