Please Let's Talk About Them 'Cause They're Gone,

This review is from: Dining Sisters (Audio CD)
The Dinning Sisters sing and harmonize wonderfully on this CD; they could make just about anything sound grand and just one listen proves it! They never really got the full recognition that other sister acts received (such as The Andrews Sisters, for example); but maybe that can still change with continued sales of their CDs including this one.
The album opens with The Dinning Sisters performing "That Sentimental Gentleman from Georgia." I love how they sing and the lyrics that are somewhat spoken enhance the ballad even more. "Where or When" charms me with its beauty; The Dinning Sisters do this faultlessly and I love their creative use of some minor keys to put their own stamp on this song. "You're a Character, Dear" is also very well done; the percussion is great and overall the musical arrangement fits perfectly with the lyrics as these sisters sing this to perfection--and beyond! "Once in a While" gets the royal treatment from these very talented songbirds; and their rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight" is both poignant and sweet. "Aunt Hagar's Children Blues" is a song I never heard before but when The Dinning Sisters do it they make it memorable; and I also enjoy hearing them perform "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone." The CD closes with their interpretation of "Brazil;" they certainly don't disappoint! Any fan of The Dinning Sisters would do well to add this to their collections; the sisters sing beautifully and they never let go of a single superfluous note! This is also a fantastic starter album for anyone just discovering the remarkable artistry of The Dinning Sisters. |
