5.0 out of 5 stars A very handsome catalogue
This is a very handsome and useful book, in which all models made by Dinky Toys, even from Hong Kong ,are displayed in color. With exception of the airplanes and some of the extraordinary sets, the models are not photographed in detail. Much information about the models is not given (in my opinion not necessary). At the end, prices are given, but these will certainly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite a Tour de Force
The positive thing about this book is that it is dedicated to its subject - and therefore unique, as far as I can see. However, it may have become something of an anachronism. It could benefit from its own website! Because the prices can never be as current as those from on-line auctions. It could also benefit from depicting pictures of the models in chronological...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite a Tour de Force, December 4, 1999

This review is from: Dinky Toys (Paperback)
The positive thing about this book is that it is dedicated to its subject - and therefore unique, as far as I can see. However, it may have become something of an anachronism. It could benefit from its own website! Because the prices can never be as current as those from on-line auctions. It could also benefit from depicting pictures of the models in chronological sequence for easier reference and within typological groups like cars, military etc. The shots used appear to be from a collection and the groupings random. Sorry Edward, but you need updating old son

Much information about the models is not given (in my opinion not necessary). At the end, prices are given, but these will certainly vary depending on the state of the model and the availability of an original box. The format of the book is such, that it is very easy to take it with you in your pocket.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dinky Toys Book, November 12, 2010

The current Dinky Toy price guide book is very informative and has kept me abreast with more current marketplace prices. I am so glad that this book is updated and re-reprinted every couple of years. Thank you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Force Continues!, January 24, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Yes, I like this book (the 7th edition). I had an earlier one but it's lost so I can't compare them directly. For Dinky collectors this is a must - if only for photographs of models not seen in other books. The price guide is included because it supposedly helps sell the book, but "guide" is the operative word. Prices have increased a lot as any web search will show. In my opinion the 'bible' for Dinky Toys remains the Richardson's "Great Book of Dinky Toys", but Dr. Force compliments it with more photographs even though the majority are only side views. I salute all these efforts to document the production of these great toys realizing that the perfect book might well be too costly to produce. It is easy to critcize the efforts but these have to be tempered with the realization of the work involved by enthusiasts who add so much knowledge and enjoyment to our love of Dinky Toys.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dinky Toys Revised 6th Edition, May 9, 2008

This review is from: Dinky Toys (Paperback)
This book is primarily a re-release of earlier editions of the same title by Dr. Edward Force. Its useful portion is an updated price guide by Jeff Bray. This may help a Dinky Toy collector establish the value of his collection. But, since the Sixth Edition is copyrighted 2006, even the guide may be outdated.
