5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Cookbook February 21, 2010
By D. Kent
Format:Paperback
I have over forty cookbooks, most supposedly geared for using long term food storage. Unfortunately, most use many fresh ingredients which may not be available. That leaves a couple of options, convert the fresh ingredients into dried ones or don't use the recipe. The great thing about this book is that it uses all long term food storage items. In addition to that the instructions are easy to follow and the food tastes great. I made up a couple of the dishes and shared them with a group of 50 people. They all loved them. This book embraces a whole new way of meal planning. Thank you! I can't wait to share this with my friends and family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recipes are delicious! April 2, 2010
Format:Paperback
I have eaten more than half of these meals prepared from the recipes listed in this book, and must say they sure make eating food storage much better than you might expect. The meals really are good when you consider it is mostly reconstituted food. In fact, I live on a sail boat and utilize the ingredients and recipes in this book quite often as we journey from across seas. We eat well and appreciate the cooking education we received from this book. Quick, easy, and good tasting from food storage products is very important for us. Hope you get a chance to read & utilize this book for yourself.

1.0 out of 5 stars a waste of time and money April 19, 2012
By C. Corn
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I should have paid attention to the negative reviews of this book. Pay attention to them because they are all true. This is the most convoluted method of food storage I've ever heard of. This is not all the ingredients in one jar for dinner as the title suggests but ingredients in 2, or 3 jars PLUS other items from your freezer/fridge (sheesh!). There are only 30 recipes in the book and they don't even sound very good. It is mostly soup or casseroles and many of these have both rice and elbow macaroni in them which seems weird (one or the other but both???) Her chicken noodle soup recipe doesn't have "noodles" but rather (you guessed it) elbow macaroni and rice in it! There is only one recipe out of 30 that I might try. I have many food storage/pantry cookbooks and this is the WORST.

This amateurish attempt at a cookbook is NOT quick, NOT easy, and ridiculously over-priced. The positive reviews must have been written by the friends and family of the author. I hope you take this warning to heart and don't waste $15 bucks like I did. There is a blog on the internet that has (for free!) some great recipes for dry canning freeze dried ingredients and has ALL of those ingredients contained in one mason jar for a meal. Google Chef Tess Bakeresse blog and look at her 52 jar method. If you want a one jar meal that is shelf stable for 5-7 years then Chef Tess is the resource for you.
