Book Description

January 17, 2001
This book embodies a desire on the part of the authors to produce a directory of haunted places around the United States that deal with food, drink, and/or accommodations. For the curious traveler, the directory integrates history, adventure, and ghostsfor an extraordinary travel experience, and adventure into the unknown. Dinner and Spirits contains over 500 well-documented listings from 50 states. Go have dinner, or a drink, or perhaps spend a comfortable night in one of the establishments listed herein. The owners of the listed establishments welcome you into a world where you may not need food, drink, or slumbering dreams, but only an open mind to encounter a spirit.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!, April 1, 2001
This review is from: Dinner and Spirits: A Guide to America's Most Haunted Restaurants, Taverns, and Inns (Paperback)
This is the biggest collection of haunted hotels and restaurants I've seen. A must have for anyone, anywhere to find a haunted location close to home or on vacation. Rob and Anne have come through again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Quanitity, not quality, February 4, 2006
By
Amy H (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dinner and Spirits: A Guide to America's Most Haunted Restaurants, Taverns, and Inns (Paperback)
This volume has tons of haunted places listed, but presents them each as a capsulized summary of others' research and writeups. They have an impressive listing of resources and give due credit to all, but they don't seem to add anything of their own to the descriptions. Most of the listings are one page or less, with there being some double spread pages that contain parts of four different entries. This guide is helpful purely as a directory (in the same way the yellow pages would be) but has no feel of personal investment or enjoyment. If you have access to this book, my recommendation would be to use the "Resources" section for each state to identify books and authors for more indepth and enjoyable reading.
