Good Recipes, Some a Bit Too Time Consuming for Week Night Cooking,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dinners Made Easy (Kindle Edition)
This is a cookbook that features about 20 recipes that include yogurt as an ingredient. The recipes are interesting and varied--everything from roast pork to strawberry pancakes. The recipes are organized by the day of the week (i.e. Mexican casserole and berry parfait dessert on Monday, spicy yogurt chicken and cranberry slaw on Thursday, etc.)
The premise of this book is that the recipes are simple, quick and easy enough to be a cinch to whip up after a long day at work. If that's the case, then I don't completely agree with their recipe choices. For example, Wednesday's recipe selection is a spinach pie that requires twelve ingredients, at least 20 minutes of prep time (by my estimates), over 40 minutes of baking time and about 10 minutes of cooling time. My feeling is that a dinner that requires almost an hour and a half to get on the table and requires lots of kitchen clean up (graters, several mixing bowls, pie pans, etc.) isn't that great a choice for "an easy relaxed meal". Many of the recipes in this book require over 10 ingredients, involve activities such as baking from scratch and use a lot of different bowls, baking pans, etc. which leads to lots of clean up. However, the recipes do look appetizing and people who enjoy cooking as a way to unwind after a long day of work will probably really enjoy them. Cooks who want dinner on the table in 30 minutes or less and don't want a lot of kitchen clean up afterward might not enjoy the menus in this cookbook.

The dish that surprised me the most.. was the yogurt mashed potatoes! That one.. I can't wait to try out on my menfolk! I love yogurt.. but, I'm the only one in the house that will eat it. So, maybe.. just MAYBE.. I can sneak some healthy stuff into their food.. and they'll NEVER be the wiser, eh?!! Shhhhhhhhh!

Dinners Made EasyI think this is a good little cookbook. Of course all the recipes use yogurt. Yes some of the recipes have 12 ingredients but they are common ones like
onions, garlic, cider vinegar, white vinegar, cumin, honey, salt, yogurt, parsley. I don't even cook with a lot of spices and herbs and I have most of the stuff. And even if I would have to buy something they're not ingredients that you would buy and never use again. Although I never made pancakes with oat bran so I don't know if I would buy that.

I figured I would give it a try. I got one recipe out of the whole book. I guess that's not too shabby for a free cookbook.

Good recipe book if you like yogurt. There is 2 recipe's per a day but they all include yogurt in each recipe. I like yogurt but the Greek yogurt that is in the recipe's is horrible tasting. I do not like it and would not put it in something that I plan to eat. But then that is just me. Some of the dishes do seem interesting but they are not dishes for a family with children. They are more like dishes for a couple.

Good price and I like their yogurt, so got it for my kindle. Quick to skim through b/c it's just a small compilation of recipes from their containers it appears. Which, good part is now they are compiled together for me I guess.
