Book Description

September 4, 1990

Discover the remains of reptilian giants who lived 140 million years ago. Once buried a mile deep in the earth's crust, these fossils are relics of the fascinating Age of Dinosaurs.

Each book in The Story Behind the Scenery series tells a compelling story through the eyes of an experienced interpreter whose writing reflects true enthusiasm for the park. Complete with running text and interpretive captions, accompanied by abundant full-color photographs, these books will be welcome in any home library.

Dinosaur National Monument, located in northwestern Colorado and eastern Utah, was first set aside in 1915 to preserve the fossil remains of dinosaurs and other ancient animals.

48pp., 57 color and 1 historic photos, 8 illustrations, map.
