1.0 out of 5 stars Not really "Revised and updated"; rather a reprint., June 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dinosaur Data Book (Hardcover)
The book carries a copyright date of 1991. The "revised and updated" aspect appears to be limited to 69 lines on pages 306-307. Recent (post '91) discoveries in China, Morocco, Argentina, and the US (predators rivaling T. rex, protobirds older than Archaeopteryx, and the most famous T. rex of all ("Sue")) aren't mentioned. Buy it as a historical document, but not as a book "Revised and updated to include the latest discoveries" that is "up to date with the latest theories and facts" circa 1998. One star only, not because the 1991 content is shabby (it isn't), but because the book is misrepresented.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dino Encyclopedia, June 30, 2005
By
Mulsane (Northern VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dinosaur Data Book (Hardcover)
Really folks... there are new and used copies available, at the time of this writing, for 1-3 dollars....unbelievable.

Book is frankly an encyclopedia. Filled with entertaining illustrations that make even the disinterested want to read what they have to say about them. Any kid in the dinosaur phase will LOVE this one.

The real qualm I have is that it's printed on paperback quality paper, so the paper will yellow with age.

Additionally.. the all black line illustrations is up for grabs. On the one hand it seems cheap of them, then again... what do we REALLY know about the colors of Dinosaurs anyway???
And they ARE entertaining to look at.

I'd give this one 4 and a half stars.
