4.0 out of 5 stars Good basic dinosaurs
This book contains a small collection of dinosaur models. Some require a little more imagination than others, but the origami enthusiast should be able to create a nice collection of prehistoric beasts in just a short time.

The illustrations are very clear and easy to follow and the overall look of the book is very pleasing utilizing clear creative photography.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Waste of Paper
First things first--this is not, in a strict sense, an origami book. Most models employ cutting. That in itself would not be terrible, but the real shame of this book are the folding directions. They're just plain bad. Beginners will be frustrated by the inaccurate drawings and more advanced folders will have no interest in these models. All of this begs the question: Why...

There is some use of multiple pieces of paper which might be unwelcome to some folders, but it is a nice collection of animals at a beginner to low-intermediate level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur Origami, May 16, 2002

I strongly disagreed with the previous reviewer. My 8 year old son picked up the first book (Fantasy Origamy)and was able to fold a whale in 2 tone colors in 30 mins. He took the book and shared it with his classmates and many of them folded different animals during their freetime without guidance (and enjoyed the activity tremendously). I find the instruction very easy to understand; the cutting to accomplished certain shape and curves (which make the animals look real) is very innovative and artistic by itself. Who said that origami (ART) had to conform to traditional style without cutting. My son was so excited when I got the Dinosaur book for him since he recognized all dinosaur names and shapes today. He is sharing this new book again with his friends and classmates tomorrow.

They're just plain bad. Beginners will be frustrated by the inaccurate drawings and more advanced folders will have no interest in these models. All of this begs the question: Why did this publisher lavish so much attention on this rather amateurish book (and other books by this same author) when so many better origami creators don't even have a publisher?

I really enjoyed making these for my son. He's not quite old enough to do it himself but I like to make him a new one for him to find each week.

You need patience with Origami, if you have the patience these models will please your students. My students made these models (5th grade) to go along with a dinosaur unit.
