Dinosaur Train - Collectible Morris With Train Car

Our son (turns 4 on 8/6) has been Dinosaur Train crazy since he started watching since the beginning the show aired. Since then we have tried to find toys, pillows, blankets, and all the other things that go with cartoons these days (tired of Dora and Sponge Bob). Finally, in a last-ditch effort to find that gift that will send him over-the-top, we searched and found out that they were releasing Dinosaur Train toys on August 1st. So on July 27th we ordered as many as we could and they arrived today, just as Amazon said, which is 2 days before the big party. We ordered the entire set of cars and figures, the train a 3-piece sets. Simply amazing in the details, the durability and just fantastic. We hope our son is as excited when he opens the box, as we have been when we ordered and received them today. Thank you sooo much for finally coming out with the Dinosaur Train toys. Now we are planning to get the remaing things, such as the plush toys, train track and interactive figures over the course of the holiday season.

We purchased the Dinosaur Train set with the track and station. It said it came with the nest and time tunnel. These were flimsy cardboard and didn't even last one day. My 2 1/2 year old even recognized they were 'not good' and 'flimsy.' I expected something he could actually play with and that was impossible, they wouldn't even stay together OR stand up. This is the ONLY one of the dinosaurs that WILL stand on it's own, the others will not, even on a flat surface, which is a source of great frustration for my son. They will not stay in their train cars (even propped up) when the cars are moving. It appears they have a little 'peg' that is supposed to go into a little hole in the car, but that is impossible for either my husband and I to accomplish, so no child would be able to accomplish it. The train that comes with the set will not pull any extra cars without spinning it's wheels and going no where. Then to add insult to injury, we purchased lights and sounds Dinosaur train hoping to help the original train along (by splitting up the cars) without realizing that although we spent MORE in lights and sounds train relative to the set, it does NOT move. To a 2 1/2 year old, it appears broken and he doesn't understand that ONE train won't sing and the OTHER train won't move. Very disappointed.

My 1 1/2 year old son loves the Dinosaur train every time he sees the show he is mesmerized and growls/roars along and when the train comes around CHOO CHOO. We got him the old train set and they all come with a character and they all connect together to make the Dinosaur Train. He plays with the Dinosaurs seprate and the train holds his Hotweels while he makes the Dinosaurs chase the train. (i wish i knew what ran threw his head) It's a great toy and a great show

My daughter is a huge Dinosaur Train fan, and we bought all of the available characters to go with the train set in October as Christmas gifts. She was very excited when she unwrapped all of them, and she loves playing with it, but there are definitely several downsides. The characters are not to scale with each other and most are too large to be in a car with more than one other. Some of the characters don't stand up well on their own, and some of the characters with smaller feet have their product ID number printed elsewhere on their body (Shiny Pteranadon, for example), which somewhat detracts from the illusion. Overall, though, she still loves it, but I was hoping it would be more than it is. On the plus side, the characters all look quite like their animated counterparts.

I also found the inclusion of Ollie and Orin Ornithomimus a bit excessive, as I did with Delores and Boris Tyrannosaurus, especially considering some characters that were neglected altogether, such as Patrica Palaeobatrachus; Cindy Cimolestes; Rick Oryctodromeus; Arnie Argentinosaurus; Alvin Allosaurus; Spiky Stygimoloch; Hank Ankylosaurus; Bucky Masiakasaurus; Daphne Daspletosaurus; King Cryolophosaurus; The Lambeosaurus Family, Leroy, Lily, Larry, and Lorraine; more Troodons, such as Mrs. Conductor, Gilbert, Travis, The Station Master, and/or The Troodon Official; Cory Corythosaurus; Quincy Quetzalcoatlus and/or Mr. "Wing King" Quetzalcoatlus; Iggy Iguanodon; Mikey Microraptor; The Old Spinosaurus; Keenan Chirostenotes; Arlene Archaeopteryx; Teri Therizinosaurus; and Howard Dragonfly. Not to mention some marine-dwelling characters, such as Mitch and/or Max Michelinoceras, Elmer Elasmosaurus, Carla Cretoxyrhina, and Paulie Pliosaurus, and maybe an accompanying aquacar.

If/when a new line of characters is released, we will no doubt add them to her collection, but we'd also like to see an improved train set to go along with them.

Learning Curve Dinosaur Train - Motorized Adventure Track Set

The dinosaur is sturdy and well made. The pegs in the car don't fit/line up with the feet, so the dinosaur is prone to toppling over. The design on the track (purchase separately) is so bad, that adding this dinosaur car to the set will make the already-weak engine, completely immobile. I wish they sold just the dinosaur without the car.
