Bought this for a three year old nephew who loves trains and dinosaurs. Personally, I don't see how the two connect but someone was ingenious enough to match the two separate interests and combine them into a toy series. I presume to a kid it makes perfect sense to have dinosaurs ride train cars. Anyway, the toys are well made, sturdy enough to take a little roughhousing and very colorful. Each dinosaur and train car is different and corresponds to the PBS TV show "Dinosaur Train" which the kids watch so they are already familiar with the characters.

My 1 1/2 year old son loves the Dinosaur train every time he sees the show he is mesmerized and growls/roars along and when the train comes around CHOO CHOO. We got him the old train set and they all come with a character and they all connect together to make the Dinosaur Train. He plays with the Dinosaurs seprate and the train holds his Hotweels while he makes the Dinosaurs chase the train. (i wish i knew what ran threw his head) It's a great toy and a great show

My daughter is a huge Dinosaur Train fan, and we bought all of the available characters to go with the train set in October as Christmas gifts. She was very excited when she unwrapped all of them, and she loves playing with it, but there are definitely several downsides. The characters are not to scale with each other and most are too large to be in a car with more than one other. Some of the characters don't stand up well on their own, and some of the characters with smaller feet have their product ID number printed elsewhere on their body (Shiny Pteranadon, for example), which somewhat detracts from the illusion. Overall, though, she still loves it, but I was hoping it would be more than it is. On the plus side, the characters all look quite like their animated counterparts.
I also found the inclusion of Ollie and Orin Ornithomimus a bit excessive, as I did with Delores and Boris Tyrannosaurus, especially considering some characters that were neglected altogether, such as Patrica Palaeobatrachus; Cindy Cimolestes; Rick Oryctodromeus; Arnie Argentinosaurus; Alvin Allosaurus; Spiky Stygimoloch; Hank Ankylosaurus; Bucky Masiakasaurus; Daphne Daspletosaurus; King Cryolophosaurus; The Lambeosaurus Family, Leroy, Lily, Larry, and Lorraine; more Troodons, such as Mrs. Conductor, Gilbert, Travis, The Station Master, and/or The Troodon Official; Cory Corythosaurus; Quincy Quetzalcoatlus and/or Mr. "Wing King" Quetzalcoatlus; Iggy Iguanodon; Mikey Microraptor; The Old Spinosaurus; Keenan Chirostenotes; Arlene Archaeopteryx; Teri Therizinosaurus; and Howard Dragonfly. Not to mention some marine-dwelling characters, such as Mitch and/or Max Michelinoceras, Elmer Elasmosaurus, Carla Cretoxyrhina, and Paulie Pliosaurus, and maybe an accompanying aquacar. If/when a new line of characters is released, we will no doubt add them to her collection, but we'd also like to see an improved train set to go along with them.

I purchased a bunch of these dinosaur connector pieces for Christmas. My son who is 2 already has the dinosaur train ( the one without a track) but did not have any additional pieces. I have had trouble connecting the dinosaur to his cart in my son's dinosaur train and I fully expected to have the same problem with these connector pieces and their dinosaurs. However, although not easy to connect, these dinosaur seemed to fit better in their carts and were EASIER than the big dinosaur that comes with the main train. Over all my son loves it and my daughter who is almost 4 loves it too. Having the connector pieces makes the train even cooler!

This toy is pretty good and inexpensive for what it is. A disappointment from a many standpoints including; compatibility with other train systems, design and potential.
pluses include; close depiction of dinosaur train characters, price, and modular nature of the toys. cons; doesn't run on any track system of other toy types like thomas or geotrax, quality of trains is questionable, characters poorly connect to train cars, size discrepancy between characters and train cars. my son loves them so maybe my opinion is overly harsh.

Learning Curve Dinosaur Train - Motorized Adventure Track Set
The dinosaur is sturdy and well made. The pegs in the car don't fit/line up with the feet, so the dinosaur is prone to toppling over. The design on the track (purchase separately) is so bad, that adding this dinosaur car to the set will make the already-weak engine, completely immobile. I wish they sold just the dinosaur without the car.

This is a really cool toy! I especially like the lifted arm! I also like how he has a frown on one side of his face, and a smile on the other.

My son enjoys the Dinosaur Train show and these trains make a great gift. They allow him to spend several hours being creative and imaginitive. I do however recommend you buy the trains seperate from the battery operated track because the trains do not go well on the track.

My grandson loves this show and his favorite is Ned, so this is played with a lot. He is 3 and uses Ned without the train car.
