About the Author

Julia Donaldson has a fast-growing reputation as a children's writer. She won the Smarties Prize and the Blue Peter Award for The Gruffalo, illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Julia Donaldson is the author of many successful books for children, including the classic THE GRUFFALO, which has won the Smarties Prize and the Blue Peter Award for the Best Book to Read Aloud. THE GRUFFALO'S CHILD was one of the biggest best-sellers of 2004 and won WHS Children's Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. Julia has also written many children's plays and songs, and runs regular storytelling and drama workshops. She lives in Glasgow with her family.

Generally we LOVE ANY book by this author (and her common collaborator on illustrations, Axel Scheffler) so were excited to see that Julia had written a chapter book. It wasn't quite as adorable as her picture books but my 6 and 4 year old liked it. The idea started out so cute. I found it fell a little flat towards the end, but generally it was fun to read and we really appreciate her style. Keep bringing us amazing stuff, Julia!!!!!!!
