Dinosaurs (Fandex Family Field Guides)

My son really likes this field guide especially with the faces so he knows what the head of the dinosaur would have looked like. However, this creates a slight problem because all the faces are different size w/various edges. This can make it a little more difficult to fold the field guide back together because the edges get caught with each other. Otherwise, very informative.

I recently gave this Fandex to my 7 yr old son but we own other Fandexes and love them all. They are die-cut "strips" of paper connected together at one end (think paint sample strips connected at the bottom that designers use). They come in a variety of subjects. We also have The Presidents, 50 States, Composers and Artists (we homeschool). But other selections include Cats, Dogs, Trees, Wildflowers, Butterflies, etc. I just gave a friend's son Star Wars and he went ga-ga over it. My only caution is that when the child fans all the "strips" out, it is hard to stack them all back (you must stack each one individually). This is because of the diecut end- the different shaped edges on each of the strips catch each other. I also wish that the company would use a slightly thicker quality paper. However, that being said, they are such a fantastic product that I give them 5 stars. They are really cool in our house!

I ordered this for my 6 year old grandson. He already has the Cars, Cars one and the Presidents one. It's amazing how much he can tell you about the presidents from reading those cards! I have not given the Dinosaur one to him yet-maybe for Easter---but I think he'll enjoy it just as much as the other tool. As a retired teacher, I see this as a great way to make learning fun for a child. Very happy with this purchase.
