Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-5?A sort of "Guinness Book of World Dinosaur Records," this volume compares dinosaurs by their most distinguishing features: the longest, the biggest meat eater, the slowest, etc. Some of these superlative attributes may be fleeting (not unlike the Guinness records!); the "last dinosaur" can only retain its title until a more recent fossil is discovered to displace it. And some of these characteristics are pretty subjective. Can humans really know which dino was the dumbest, the best parent, or the most popular? Still, the format works well for kids who want something to browse through, and the large, full-color illustrations have the right mix of action, realism, and scenery to hold their interest. A chart places all the creatures on a time line.?Cathryn A. Camper, Minneapolis Public Library

About the Author

Elizabeth MacLeod has written many books for children, including Why Do Cats Have Whiskers? Ever since she first rode a horse at summer camp, Liz has been swept away by these wonderful animals. She immediately fell in love with their smell and the feel of their velvety noses. When Liz was a little girl, she wanted a Shetland pony - she still loves their shaggy coats! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dinosaurs: The Fastest, the Fiercest, the Most Amazing., April 26, 2000
By A Customer
My 7 year old grandaughter selected this book for a homework assignment when I took her to our local Library. The most interesting facts were presented in such a way, and illustrated so superbly, that she was fascinated by it. We both enjoyed reading it together so much, that I am purchasing my personal copy to share with my other grandchildren when they visit. It was just what she needed to prepare for a verbal report.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great pictures, July 7, 2007
This review is from: Dinosaurs: The Fastest, The Fiercest, The Most Amazing (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this book for a 3 year old, and she loved it. Also she understood the wording, except I think the names of the dinosaurs could have been broken down into syllables, so you could read the names correctly. The pictures were wonderful.
