From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 3-Each cassette contains 12 songs related to the profession, such as "What Is an Insect," "What Is a Spider?," "Ants in My Pants" and "Fireflies Won't You Come Out Tonight" on the Entomologist tape. Many of the songs are simply familiar melodies with lyrics written to relate to the profession. Each tape and booklet features a brief, simple definition of the profession; the booklet also includes fact pages (single, short paragraphs) about related subjects, as well as some activity pages. No answer keys are provided, however. Text from the booklet is read by children; songs are pleasantly performed by both male and female adults, with some children as well. Black-and-white realistic illustrations and cartoons are included in the booklets. Very little actual information about the profession is provided, although each booklet concludes with a one page letter from an individual explaining what they do, how they got interested in the profession, etc. These units are definitely entertaining as a first introduction to various professions, but don't provide enough information for students needing to write a report.
