This book totally charmed me. I have always loved the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and this book is set there. It is really funny to read a dinosaur version of the night before Xmas rhyme-- and the art is beautiful-- great dino party scenes with them dancing around the fire, etc. The music is very fun-- it has holiday tunes with the words changed-- there is an "allosaurus chorus" instead of the hallelujah chorus... Hey Duckbills instead of Jingle Bells...etc. I am giving this as a gift to a family I know with two dino-loving little boys.

I am a bit biased in this review since the main character is my own little guy. Nate is my cousin and asked my son to pose for this book. I think that he is the handsomest (word?) boy to ever grace a picture book.

Oh, and Nate didn't do such a bad job with the other illustrations as well!

This fun book is the perfect holiday gift for dinosaur lovers. Clever concept for the plot, witty adaptation of the traditional "'Twas the night before" rhyme, and, best of all, FANTASTIC illustrations that truly capture the imagination.

Plus, a bonus CD with the story read by the jolliest weatherman ever and original dinosaur Christmas party tunes! And the fact that some of the proceeds go to benefit the American Museum of Natural History = icing on the cake!

My girls were really excited to get this on Christmas Eve and they were singing the songs and remarking on the story long past the holidays.

I never would have made what should have been an obvious connection - Christmas and dinosaurs! - but here it is, perfectly rendered in Nathan Hale's talented, crisp, colorful illustrations. The story by Anne Muecke is delightful, the pictures are wonderful, and, let's face it, every little boy is gonna want to read this story - it's two things they love in one! And, if the pictures and topic themselves don't compel you, it comes with a great and hilarious music CD - that's a bonus not even Scrooge could pass up!

This is a very fun book, I bought it for my toddler who is way into Dinosaurs and Christmas and I can't wait to give it to him. I love the theme of using dinosaurs in a Christmas story especially since I have a little dinosaur at home who loves a great bedtime story. I was also very impressed by how colorful and brilliant the illustrations were. My boy also loves 'Yellow Belly and Plum go to school' by the same illustrator.

What a great twist on a classic Christmas story! It's so fun to see how the dinosaurs celebrate Christmas Eve. Great illustrations!

What a great mix, dinosaurs and Christmas and all the imagination of this magical time of year. This story reminds my husband of wanting dinosaur models for Christmas. My family loves Nathan Hale's work.

This book is a sheer delight! Muecke's fun text is perfectly paired with Hale's realistically rendered dinosaurs, and the CD of dino-carols is a treasure. My three-year-old has been running around singing, "Aaaaall-o-saurus! Aaaall-o-saurus!"

With two young dino lovers at home, we knew this would be a hit. The surprise is that we love it, too! In addition to the story, it includes 5 classic Christmas songs with dino lyrics. So fun!

Great for kids that love dinasaurs and Christmas. Can't have too many Before Christmas books.
