Dinosaurs Stars of the Show,
This review is from: Dinosaurs: Stars of the Show (Hardcover)
Dinosaurs: Stars of the Show written by Amie Zordel and illustrated by Joanna Borrero is a must have for your children's book collection. I have a dinosaur lover in our family and I grow weary of the heavy evolutionary material constantly presented through other dinosaur books.
This book was a breath of fresh air as it was slathered with truth based on the Bible. I love the example of the little girl in the book that when she questions something she runs straight to the Bible as an authority instead of the internet or library. It is a great book to use as a unit for homeschool study as well. My children have enjoyed this book and we have had great discussions from reading it together. It is important for me to teach my children how to think and be able to figure what is true and what to measure truth by and this book is going to be a great tool in teaching them. The illustrations in this book are so colorful and inviting. I adored the artwork. I also love the rhyming sentences. Overall, I would recommend this book as a "must have" for any parent who wants a child to learn early what truth is and where it comes from.

In very simple terms, this picture book explains how dinosaurs were created by God on Day six and that the world was created 6,000 years ago. The pictures are colorful and sure to attract preschoolers.
I recommend this book for preschool age children. There are other books that do a more complete job for older children, such as D Is for Dinosaur, What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs? (DJ and Tracker John), and Dinosaurs of Eden: A Biblical Journey Through Time

A ramrod strict lesson about focusing solely on the Bible for all of one's answers,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dinosaurs: Stars of the Show (Hardcover)
Dinosaurs: Stars of the Show is a fundamentalist Christian picturebook that teaches children to literally interpret the Bible. When a young girl sees a television program claiming that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, she consults the Holy Bible, in which God's word clearly states that all existence is no older than six thousand years - and therefore, dinosaurs and humans once lived side by side. "God's Word is clear, if we just try, / to search the Scriptures with an open eye. / All answers are there for you to find. / God gives wisdom as you use your mind." The result is a ramrod strict lesson about focusing solely on the Bible for all of one's answers, and unilaterally speaking out against any information that may contradict it.

Amie Zordel's first book is nearly autobiographical, written after her seven-year-old daughter was exposed to the theory of evolution while watching a children's television program, according to a page about the author. In "Dinosaurs: Stars of the Show" she charmingly presents a case for six-day creation both parents and children will find biblical as well as entertaining. It's a fun read reminiscent of Dr. Suess, but with much more truth in its 24 pages. Ideal for 3rd graders to 6th graders.
