This review is from: Dinotopia: The Sunstone Odyssey (Video Game)
I just want to say up front that this was one of those rare titles where I didn't know what to expect going in. I had never seen the "Dinotopia" mini-series or the short-lived TV series.
What I found was a dreary game which featured a lot of button mashing and a smattering of tasks where you go and find items for other characters. I found myself frustrated more than once by forgetting in which direction I was traveling and inadvertently backtracking. The reason wasn't early dementia...it was because the environments are so poor that it is difficult to tell one spot from another.
You pretty much "lock on" to enemies in the game by using the left trigger on the controller. You then keep pressing the A button until they are dead. That constitutes 80 percent of the game. The other 20 percent consists of finding items for people and a couple of flying sections where you control a dinosaur of some sort (a pterodactyl perhaps?).
The cutscenes were horrible and the game took me just over 5 hours to beat. This might be a good title for some younger gamers who enjoy dinosaurs but I wouldn't recommend it for the older video game players out there.
