Product Description

The Radian Angle Adjuster positions rear-facing radian seats at a more upright angle for older children and can add up to 4" behind the front seats for more front leg room. The dense foam construction adds firm, lateral support for increased stability. The Radian Angle Adjuster fits all model radian seats and is latch compatible. For use with rear-facing radian seats and with children over 1 year of age. Made from high-density PU foam. Crash tested.

Customer Reviews

Could not use the Diono Radian RXT car seat rear facing, without this.

Since my son is rear-facing still, this angle adjuster allows for much more room between the car seat and the front seat.
whitbjordan
With this angle adjuster the diono actually fits rear facing behind the drivers seat.

Ok, so.. this thing is stupid. It's a block of foam. A bit sad that its even necessary, and that it's not something that is included with the car seat.

But I guess not everyone would make use of it if they did include it. So that is one more thing to drive the price of the overall seat up, perhaps unnecessarily for some.

And since you want to make sure your kiddo gets the best you're not going to just jam a phonebook under there instead. I mean, it's not like they unnecessarily jacked the price up. It's only $10!

So I'm pretty sure this thing deserves five stars because it gave us a good 6-7 additional inches of room for the front passenger's seat to slide back. Now someone taller than 4'8" can comfortably sit in the front.

Yes, you have convinced me. Buy this thing already if you have any doubt on whether you might need it or suffer the additional days with no use of your front passenger seat while it's being shipped to you. Or worse, if its on backorder, might as well just go buy yourself a new car.

I was so happy when I finally received the angle adjuster, as it had been backordered for months. It was an easy install and created the necessary space for my husband and I (both over 6') to sit and recline comfortably. However, in the short 3 months we've had it, the foam has gradually compressed and we are almost back to the recline we started at. Though we only spent $10, I would expect it to last longer than 3 months. I love the extended RF that the radian offers, but for the age/weight of the kids it should fit, it seems really complicated to keep it upright.

So we purchased the Diono Ranier and they were shipped really quickly. We drive a CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV with two bucket seats in the middle. I installed just one Ranier into the bucket seat behind the driver sides before unpacking both chairs. Shockingly, this seat angles back so far that I am unable to even drive my SUV. I am only 5' 3". Honestly, for driving one of the largest vehicles available I can't believe it doesn't fit and furthermore that I have to buy two pieces of FOAM to stick under the chair. This is supposed to be the safest convertible around and you stick FOAM under it??? Oh and the kicker? its back ordered for at least two months. who knows if we'll ever get it. I understand not shipping it with the seat as not every person would utilize it, but it should be sent to you upon request and for free.

I'm not sure how to review this product because it's something that you're pretty much forced to buy if you want to extended rear-face your child in a Diono Radian - which is usually the point of purchasing one.

We have 2 Radians and after the purchase of our first angle adjuster, I was tempted to just find the foam somewhere and recreate the product myself. But the safety-freak in me took over & I decided to stick with the proven, crash-tested Diono version.

Well, it has its pros and cons.

Pros: It is coated on both sides to keep the foam from disintegrating all over your car when you push it under the seat. It is easy to install and has arrows and instructions printed on it in case someone other than the Carseat Master in your family needs to do an install. In the beginning it definitely provides much needed space in the car by making the Radian seat back more vertical. It allows adjustment of the Radian at a safe angle for older kids (you don't want the seat to recline more than 45%).

Cons:
It does not last. We have to purchase a new one of these every 4 months because they permanently compress over that short period & the seat begins to recline back to an unsafe position. Yes, they are not too expensive, but when you purchase an expensive carseat like a Radian, you don't really anticipate having to shell out another $20 (for 2 seats) every few months just to keep your child RF. It starts to add up!

At first I thought it was just because we had an older Jeep & the foam in the bench seat was also old causing me to have to over-tighten the seatbelt to get a solid install. I figure this was putting undue pressure on the angle adjuster so it was really my fault that it went bad.

It took only a few seconds to install this under my 2 1/2 y/o son's RF Radian XT. The directions were very simple & clear. Just loosen the tether, lift the back of the seat, slide it in with the arrows pointing to the back of the seat, check to make sure the belt is still tight, & finally tighten the tether. We are using it in a 2002 GMC Yukon XL, in the 2nd row, behind the passenger seat. We have seats 3-across in the 2nd row: a Graco Snugride 35 behind the driver, Radian XT (FF) in the center, and a Radian XT behind the passenger (RF) -- the adjuster does not interfere with the installation of the seat next to it. Without the angle adjuster the passenger seat had to be a little forward & perfectly upright. With the angle adjuster the seat is all the way back & comfortably reclined. This should make long trips much more comfy for everyone.

There are 2 things that could be improved about this however. It is basically a very sturdy, thick piece of black foam with rounded corners & about 1.5-2" wider than the base of the seat. Either a rubbery coating to prevent slipping or a bit of an indentation for the base to set in would make me feel much more confident with the installation. The narrowness of the adjuster could make it easy for someone not paying enough attention to make the seat lopsided or right on the edge on one side.
